SUMMARY

This position is a part of iCAC technical development and acquisition team in NAFTA. The position is to provide technical leadership for product development and optimization of current and future iCAC designs. Assure customer technical requirements are understood and met. This position will oversee all technical aspects of assigned development project by Product manager, such as Design, Validation, Costing as well as cost reduction/avoidance (PCO), Industrialization, Launch and Series Support including understanding warranty claims. The Product engineer will also be working hand in hand with the Program Management team while getting support from Purchasing, Logistics, Preventive Quality, Supplier Quality, and Process Planning. He/she will also lead and coordinate problem prevention and resolution teams. Participate in supplier development activities for assigned or related projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs under the direction of the Product Manager and as a member of a project team, gives technical leadership for product development and optimization of iCAC final assembly designs
  • This is a product engineer position to lead and work with all cross functions such as purchasing, quality, program management, and sales to ensure the development program is meeting and keeping all its milestones and all technical deliveries from prototypes to technical presentations
  • This position should also take the lead on all new iCAC projects to review and help other engineers with any vehicle mission profile questions/directions to evaluate the lifetime durability of the iCAC components and work with the Stuttgart simulation team
  • Conduct/review/approve tolerance stacks
  • Provide technical input for component level DFMEA and design for assembly workshops
  • Work with internal experts and external suppliers to ensure that component and assembly design can be manufactured at the lowest possible cost
  • Create and manintain DVP&Rs for the component.
  • Work with the test lab to ensure all test specs are understood and executed accordingly
  • Lead component level design reviews and drawing evaluations to ensure proper application of specifications and GD&T as it relates to interfacing with suppliers and customers (both external and internal)
  • Lead and direct component design engineer in the creation of the BOM, 3D models, and 2D drawings according to the schedule identified by the project team/customer
  • Order prototype components for supply to the customer and for use in development and design validation testing according to the schedule identified by the project team/customer
  • Lead all costing activies with the help of all cros-fucntional departments especially during time of acquisition projects
  • Participate in project team, customer, and department meetings
  • Lead, establish and maintain supplier technical communications and open Issue list for assigned components
  • Conduct/complete production trials (MBPR/TPR) in accordance with the schedule identified by the project team/customer and achieve customer PPAP
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required (B.S in ME is desired but not required)
  • Master of Science in Engineering preferred (M.S in Mechanical engineering preferred but not required)
  • Understanding of statistical methods and analysis
  • Knowledge of and experience in the facilitation of DFMEA workshops in a project team
  • Knowledge of DVP&R
  • Ability to be self-motivated and work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to interact with customers, suppliers and co-workers in a positive and constructive manner
  • Ability to be detailed results oriented, and accurate
  • Ability to travel occassionally on as needed basis (with covid precautions considered)
  • Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment
  • Ability and willingness to learn new skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks smoothly with a high accountability level, and a substantial level of stress
  • Ability to work as a Team Member towards overall company objectives
