SUMMARY

The Process Technician provides technical support for the Injection molding process and has responsibility for installing molds Aux equipment, supporting, troubleshooting and optimizing the operation of molding machinery and processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES include but not limited to the following.

Responsibility of producing Quality Products that meet Customer Expectations and satisfy all Safety and Legal Requirements

Participate in problem solving activities using tools such as 5Ys and Root Cause Analysis to achieve optimum utilization of equipment.

Responsibility of working collaboratively with team members, being a positive technical team member to optimize Safety, Productivity and Quality

Performs quality set ups, mold PMs, and other technical work such as working on automation

Start up and troubleshoot jobs according to process standards maintained in the Process Book, ensure jobs are running to standard process parameters and document all deviations.

Assist toolroom in changing of cavities, slides or cores, as needed. Analyze and make recommendations for improving tools.

Work with Quality to validate critical dimensions or surface defects and make documented adjustments. Use quality equipment such as OGP, comparator, calipers and gauges/fixtures to ensure part compliance.

Complete all data collection, process modification and visual management tools, using those to work with team members on process improvement opportunities

Maintain a clean, safe work area and perform all job responsibilities in compliance with company safety policies and procedures.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but serves as the technical point person for the functional area.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each assigned duty satisfactorily.
  • Knowledge and application of scientific molding principles
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting methodology
  • Prior knowledge of materials, equipment function, processing and machine operation (Injection Molding)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency at reading, interpreting and utilizing all machine, product and work order documentation along with blueprints
  • Proficient with Mold setup activities, working with Maintenance on problems and use of state-of-the-art controls on machines and robot/ automation.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge and use of Lean Manufacturing tools
  • Previous Supervisory experience would be beneficial

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Read and interpret English written documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals and other work-related documents.
  • Communicate effectively and positively with team members, management and customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs and basic statistics.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • MM1 (Molder Level 1/ 2) certification or equivalent competency
