Basic Function

The Global Engineering and Turnarounds (GET) Intermediates and Derivatives (I&D) Process Group provides leadership and technical support to projects and operations for all of LyondellBasell's I&D plants on a global basis. The Process Engineer will drive process and design improvements for Ethylene Oxide, Ethylene Glycol, and Derivative plants. The individual will identify, recommend and implement strategic projects to improve performance. This includes evaluating alternate engineering solutions to improve existing and future plants efficiency, reliability, environmental and process safety performance. The Process Engineer will collaborate with other engineers to support process design and implementation of major capital projects. This position provides technical skills development and is ideal for the chemical engineer considering a technical ladder career. The position interfaces with Global Engineering and Turnaround personnel, Global Projects, Technical groups (plant and R&D), Operations, Reliability, Maintenance, and HSE personnel.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop and support projects/programs which contribute to the profitability, reliability, environmental and safety integrity of the plant.
• Evaluate existing processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, improve product quality reduce risk.
• Evaluate alternate engineering solutions to improve existing plant operation or new future plants and offer a technically sound recommendation for the path forward.
• Support plant evaluations and management of change packages providing technology input and endorsement.
• Provide process design support for capital projects including Process Design Package preparation.
• Coach less experienced engineers, as well as provide technical training to others.
• Effectively communicate technical recommendations and achievements both verbally and written.
• Incorporate process safety, environmental soundness and reliable operations principles and standards in projects and tasks.
• Develop and maintain the EO/EG technology excellence model.
• Work directly with vendors, contractors and project engineering as appropriate.

Min. Qualifications

Area of Expertise, Requirements
• Expert knowledge of Ethylene Oxide and Ethylene Glycol process technology and economic drivers
• Expert knowledge of chemical and process engineering fundamentals
• Expert knowledge of Safety Design Systems
• Expert knowledge of HSE/PSM regulations and relevant company Operational Excellence guidelines/procedures
• Expert knowledge in the development of Process Design Packages and related economics

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering required

Work Experience
• Minimum 10 years work experience with world-scale chemical and petrochemical process unit design and operations
• Minimum 5 years EO/EG process engineering, manufacturing support, or plant operations is preferred
• Experience in similar process technologies to EO/EG (Oxidative reactions) will be considered

Languages: English

Other skills: PC skills including SAP, MS Office suite, and process simulation software.
