Process Development Engineer

SUMMARY

  • Create and implement process technology for product manufacturing to optimize workflow, improve operating capabilities, and ensure/improve environmental and safety impacts.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design and develop processes to optimize efficient process flow, reduce process or product variability, improve process capability, and improve employee safety.
  • Develop, verify, and validate products from process development to successful commercialization.
  • Evaluate current processes and provide recommendations.
  • Develop process improvements for high efficiency and cost effectiveness.
  • Provide training and guidance to process engineers and production staff as needed.
  • Develop and maintain process optimization and validation programs to ensure validated/qualified state is controlled and sustained
  • Research and recommend new technologies to improve efficiency.
  • Participate in process improvement projects to improve product quality, decrease cost, and improve product performance.
  • Communicate business and technical needs, status, results and observations to operating, technical and business personnel.
  • Determine process capability for all developed processes.
  • Identify and troubleshoot process-related issues.
  • Perform and guide technical activities resulting from approved self-initiated or assigned manufacturing assignments
  • Utilize statistical techniques for monitoring and improvement manufacturing processes
  • Have awareness of intellectual property on processes and understanding of ITAR/Export Control Compliance
  • Actively participate in and lead project planning efforts
  • Participate in the implementation of change for future direction
  • Provide leadership to implement innovative applications and advance technologies
  • Lead cross-functional teams through Continuous Improvement efforts and support lean process activities
  • Negotiate project recommendations and implementation with business partners and relevant stakeholders
  • Follow and promote corporate business conduct, safety, health and environmental policies and practices, including Engineering guidelines, standards and specifications
  • Develop and maintain a schedule and budget for assigned engineering projects
  • Provide reports/updates on assigned projects
  • Identify project staffing requirements and coordinate staffing with supporting functional managers/supervisors, as required
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, or equivalent work experience
  • 5-7 years of experience in or directly supporting manufacturing
PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Design of Experiments
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Statistical Process Control
  • Prior experience with product and process development
  • Experience scaling up new products into manufacturing
  • General understanding of automatic control systems/ programmable logic
  • Lean Six Sigma Black belt or ability to demonstrate strong knowledge of Lean Six Sigma concepts
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office suite of tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
