Photosynthetic organisms, our planet's greatest chemists, drive the global carbon cycle and provide us with food, fuel, materials and drugs. Yet, our understanding of these organisms is in its infancy. The thousands of poorly-characterized genes in photosynthetic organisms likely participate in dozens of fundamentally-important pathways that have yet to be discovered. The Jonikas laboratory is seeking a postdoctoral candidate or more senior researcher to characterize a novel pathway of their choosing by contributing to and leveraging the cutting-edge tools and resources being developed by the laboratory, which include atlases of protein localizations, protein-protein interactions, and mutant phenotypes. The successful candidate will join a highly interactive group, with strengths in cell biology, genetics, molecular biology, and bioinformatics. The P.I. is dedicated to providing laboratory members with a nurturing training environment. Our laboratory has a strong track record of launching past postdoctoral scholars onto independent positions in academia and industry. We welcome applications from researchers whose past experience is in other fields; we believe that diverse backgrounds make us stronger. The ideal applicant will be highly motivated; have a Ph.D. degree; a strong academic record; research experience in cell, biology, molecular biology, genetics, and/or bioinformatics; and fluent English language and writing skills. Experience with one or more of the following is a plus: Chlamydomonas, land plants, or yeast; photosynthesis; molecular biology; biophysics; phase separation; large-scale biology; microscopy; electron microscopy; or proteomics. Applications from members of groups historically under-represented in molecular biology are encouraged. To apply, please submit a cover letter, CV, and three letters of recommendation to: https://www.princeton.edu/acad-positions/position/20081 Review of applications will begin on April 20th and will continue until the position is filled. This position is subject to the University's background check policy. More information about the laboratory can be found here: https://jonikaslab.princeton.edu Informal inquiries are also welcome: email mjonikas@princeton.edu.Princeton University is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
