A postdoctoral research associate or more senior researcher is sought for a neural imaging and optogenetics project in moving animals in the Leifer Laboratory at Princeton University's Department of Physics, affiliated with the Princeton Neuroscience Institute. The Leifer Lab deploys novel optical techniques to probe neural dynamics that drive behavior in the nematode C. elegans. The appointment is for one academic year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year pending satisfactory performance and continued funding.A PhD in a related field is required as well as a background in experimental physics, optics, computer science, electrical engineering or neuroscience with expertise building and using custom scientific instruments for precision measurements. In particular, someone is sought who is comfortable working with custom optics, ultrafast lasers, electronics and custom software.
