Our Performance Chemicals division had an opening on the team for a Plant Engineer to be based at our Augusta, GA plant.

The Plant Engineer is responsible for daily operations at Augusta site with additional responsibilities for Project, Process, and Production Engineering support at both Augusta and Pineville requiring some travel (up to ~25%). The ultimate goal of this position is to groom new employees into a future role in Plant Management or Project Engineering.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promotes and Demonstrates the Augusta Operating Philosophy of Safety/Health (including PQP), and the Pineville Safety Philosophy, Environmental/Regulatory Compliance, Customer/Quality Commitment and Productivity, Cost Control and Asset Management within and environment of Continuous Improvement and Respect/Caring for all Personnel.
  • Will direct activities in the plant in the absence of the plant or unit manager in terms of schedules, planning, work issuance, etc.
  • Manages plant capital projects and capital budgets in the southeast region.
  • Actively supports site JHSC through participation, support and promotion.
  • Ensures compliance with corporate/plant policies and procedures.
  • Communicates all issues, problems or concerns of the plant to unit managers and/or plant managers of the site.
  • Encourages and implements a teamwork environment.
  • Maintains all P&ID drawings in AutoCad, PDF and printed format.
  • Will lead by example, wearing all required PPE and following all procedures and accepted practices
  • Interacts with Unit Manager on plant maintenance scheduling and activities.
  • Manages contractors working on site.
  • Provides diagnostic and troubleshooting support for maintenance and operations.
  • Interacts with all plant personnel to help develop and execute continuous improvement ideas and projects through the 7 step process.
  • Monitors and maintains integrity of assets and protective systems

Additional Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs special projects or other duties as directed.

HSE Responsibilities:

  • Communicates, promotes and personally demonstrates Safety/Health (including PQP Principles) as #1 priority.
  • Participation in risk assessment audits as applicable.
  • Understand PQ Principles (PQP) and how they are implemented in the site organization, rules and procedures.
  • Completes HSE training requirements identified for the job in a timely manner.



Education:

  • Minimum Requirement: Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or technical discipline from a "brick and mortar" university.

Experience:

  • 5-7 years of experience in the chemical/manufacturing industry
  • Experience in a plant engineering function or other chemical manufacturing role.
  • with field verification of P&ID's
  • Experience includes development of PFD's, P&ID's, equipment layouts, and equipment lists.
  • Should have familiarity with a variety of equipment in the processing industry, including pumps, heat exchangers, reactors, filtration, flow measurement, conveyors, mills, and bulk solid/powder material transfer equipment.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Must be knowledgeable in basic accounting & budgeting fundamentals.
  • Basic working knowledge of chemical process unit operations.
  • Basic working knowledge of chemical analytical methods and technique.
  • Computer skills: Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint
