General Description

Community College of Philadelphia is accepting applications for a full-time, tenure track position as an instructor and coordinator of the College's dynamic program in Biomedical Equipment Technology (BMET). The Biomedical Equipment Technology Program prepares students to repair and maintain medical equipment utilized in hospitals and other healthcare environments.

This position provides leadership for our BMET program, including advising students, coordination with part-time instructors, working with the Advisory Board, overseeing lab equipment needs and internships, and teaching associated courses in BMET and/or Electronics. Depending on qualifications there may be opportunities to teach other Engineering Technology or Physics courses.
The BMET program is of particular interest to students who want to work in the healthcare arena but are more interested in working with medical technology and supporting the healthcare providers who utilize the equipment than in providing direct patient care. The program is intended to provide students with direct entry to the work environment, and students are expected to find employment in hospitals, with third-party organizations that hospitals may contract with for healthcare technology management services, and with medical device manufacturers who need to provide technical support to their customers. • Associate's Degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology (or a related field such as Electronics or Engineering Technology) and a Bachelor's degree in another field.

• At least 5 years industry experience in Biomedical Equipment Technology; Clinical Engineering or Healthcare Technology Management.

• Teaching experience, including technical training.


Preferred Qualifications

• Teaching experience at the college level.
