Job Description

Location: Baltimore MD

Security Clearance:

Must be a US Citizen eligible for a DoD Secret Clearance.

Job Summary:

Collaborate on new product development efforts. Under management supervision, provide physics support to the Applied Physics Division at 4S - Silversword in office and laboratory environments with a variety of moderate to complex tasks and functional activity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare concepts for Free Space Optical (FSO) communications system design.
• Serve as subject matter expert on the development and refine operating parameters and requirements for FSO systems.
• Manage technical aspect of Phase Array Antenna project.
• Manage technical aspect of optical switch and other optical sensor projects.
• Provide expertise in the development of next generation Fiber Optic Gyroscope (FOG) technology.
• Investigate massively parallel communications technology.
• Assist in writing reports, plans, proposals, operational documentation, patents, and other documents as required.
• Works well in a team environment.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

• 10-20 years of relevant experience as a research Physicist or higher degree in lieu of experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Physics from an accredited institution
• Extensive experience designing FSO systems, FOG components, and other optical sensors is required.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and technical development software is required.

Physical Requirements:

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distance may be required. Possible lifting up to 50 lbs.
