Responsibilities

Assists the Pharmacist in the preparation of prescriptions as permitted by state law. Maintains good customer service by accepting prescriptions or refill requests, processing sales and answering questions for customers. Achieves customer satisfaction by promptly processing prescriptions, sales transactions, and answering questions. Other duties include stocking and pricing over the counter (OTC) items, maintaining the OTC areas, processing clinic medication requisitions, and other duties as required by the pharmacist.

JOB SUMMARY

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

(A = basics; B = preferred)

Education

A.

High School diploma or GED from an accredited program

B.

Experience

A.

Minimum 2-4 years retail pharmacy experience

Or

Completion of an Accredited Pharmacy Technician Program

B.

HMO's and 3 rd party managed care experience

Licenses

A.

TSBP Registration

B.

PTCB Certification

Communication

A.

To read merchandise labels and invoices; to ask and answer questions over the phone; to write information on prescriptions.

Able to communicate with customers to handle complaints and problems.

B.

Know when to refer questions, problems, and complaints to a pharmacist.

Special Skills

A.

Operate computer terminal for processing prescriptions.

Math cash handling-able to add and subtract; able to make change; able to complete daily cash report.

Type 20wpm.

B.

10 Key by touch

Other

A.

Stress Tolerance- to receive prescriptions and ring up sales in a fast paced environment.

Physical stamina- to work in a fast paced environment, and maneuver around pharmacy.
