Position Requirements:
  • Associates Degree and 3-5 years experience in multi-state payroll processing.
  • Preference for FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)
  • Experience with JAMIS timekeeping software is strongly preferred
  • Experience in or working knowledge of Government contracting is a plus.
  • Highly motivated, able to meet tight deadlines, and work well under pressure.
  • Flexibility - the ability to adapt to changing needs of the organization.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and Word.
  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking abilities. Self-starter with willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, including some nights and weekends.
  • This position requires traveling at least twice a year
  • Top-notch communication skills (oral and written), ability to work in a team environment, and drive interdepartmental cooperation and solutions.
Responsibilities and Functions:
  • Ensure accurate/timely payroll processing while maximizing efficiencies, maintaining operational standards, and adhering to department policies and procedures.
  • Maintains payroll systems with updates to earning codes, deductions codes, including year-end carry-over processes to maintain annual balances.
  • SCA Compliance
  • Assist with financial and benefit audits
  • Responsible for payroll tasks, including but not limited to adjustments, new hires, and terminations, timecards/amended timecards, manual checks, commissions and quarterly bonuses, 3rd party sick pay, reimbursements, PTO, and TOP payouts, etc.
  • Responsible for payroll tax administration
  • Coordinates with our third-party payroll provider on an as-needed basis
  • Maintain professional knowledge of all payroll legislative changes.
  • Responsible for Timecard tracking and reporting for W2 and 1099 staff.
  • Frequent evaluation and auditing of new hires, deductions, net wages, paid time off, etc.
  • Responsible for system/spreadsheet updates and tracking to include employee information, PTO, and headcount.
  • Regular reporting of employee changes, ACA hours start/stops, PTO accruals and carryover and other government reports as required.
  • Review and process new hire W-4 forms.
  • Process incoming mail and order office supplies.
  • Review W-2 and assist with W2 labor processing.
  • Assist and back up Timecard Coordinators as necessary.
