Job Summary

The Women Veteran's Outreach Coordinator ("WVOC") Part-Time position directly interacts with women veterans and service members connected to Indiana University. This position is responsible for gathering data, creating programming opportunities and reporting barriers to success experienced by women student veterans. The WVOC will serve as a referral resource for women veterans seeking campus and community resources. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with creative ideas.

  • Serves as part of the Center for Veteran and Military Students' ("CVMS") programming team to provide monthly educational, social, and career development opportunities.
  • Works with CVMS staff to coordinate resources, programs, and assessment efforts specific to women veterans and service members. In addition, assists with general programming and assessment assuring the needs and experiences of women veterans are included and considered.
  • Provides regular feedback to the CVMS Director as well as a written semester report of activities, data, experiences, and potential improvements of and for women veteran and service members associated with Indiana University.
  • Surveys female student veterans and spouses to identify trends and needs.
  • Develops programming based on the needs of military-connected females.
  • Compiles a resource list of local, state, and national resources for women student veterans.
  • Compiles end of the semester report of activities, data, experiences, and potential improvements of and for women veteran and service members associated with Indiana University.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required
  • Currently enrolled as a student at Indiana University.
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • Experience working with non-traditional college students.
  • Experience organizing and planning small events.
Preferred
  • Experience with veterans and/or U.S. military personnel.
SKILLS

Required
  • Proficient communication skills.
  • Basic office communication skills (answering/transferring phone, email, MS Word, MS Excel, etc.).
  • Understanding and familiarity with military culture, structure, and the experiences of the student population served by CVMS.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidential information

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment and the ability to lift 20 pounds. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary

$15.00 per hour

Work Hours

This position works 15 - 20 hours per week, generally 8:00 am - 5:00 pm, but occasional evenings and weekends.
