NASCAR Event Management seeks a talented professional to join in the position of Part Time Track Services Coordinator.

During caution periods on the track, the Part Time Track Services, Coordinator becomes the NASCAR liaison for Track Services who, with guidance from NASCAR race control personnel, helps to ensure that on-track procedures proceed smoothly and correctly. This person is responsible for helping to train and actively observe Track Services personnel in on-track extrication in addition to performing vehicle rollover responses when necessary. Working in other areas pertaining to Track Services may also be required.

THIS IS A FIELD/REMOTE POSITION THAT TRAVELS TO RACE EVENTS ACROSS THE U.S.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Observes on an active race track during periods of caution (yellow flag) and red flag track incident scenes; acts as a liaison between NASCAR Track Services and the safety crews at the track during these times; may be called upon to intervene at an accident scene if the expectations of the Track Services team are not being met.
  • Responds to and actively participates in all accidents on-track involving a "roll-over".
  • Pre-inspects race facilities to ensure adequate repair supplies, track services equipment, and personnel are race and event ready.
  • Ensure that all event equipment and personnel numbers are in line with the NASCAR Track Services standards.
  • Inspects and services NASCAR fire, rescue and extrication equipment at track.
  • Inspects the track's fire and rescue equipment, towing equipment and track clean-up and drying equipment daily.
  • Conducts daily Track Services meetings with the safety crews at the track.
  • Responsible for communicating all track surface and SAFER BARRIER issues, and track services equipment problems to the track prior to the first day of on-track activity.

  • Track personnel for repair and 2) NASCAR personnel.
  • Participates in pre- and post-event conference calls with facilities.
  • Conduct and/or participate in post-race debriefing meetings in the event of a serious on-track incident.
  • Conduct and/or participate in post-event track services meeting break-out sessions and be proficient in all track services disciplines.
  • Responsible for making weekly reports on each facility attended, and outlining any performance or equipment issues.
  • Participate in weekly conference calls / meetings with Track Services Department, as well as pre- and post-event conference calls with facilities.
  • Participate in quarterly Track Services conference calls.
  • Point of contact for specific tracks as assigned by the Senior Manager of Track Services to ensure proper communication between the tracks and NASCAR Track Services.
  • Play an integral role in the development and implementation of the NASCAR Summit.
  • Trains, develops and maintains a high proficiency of NASCAR procedures.
  • Trains and works with track fire, rescue, towing and restoration personnel.
  • Attends training sessions provided by various tracks for their Track Services members.
  • Attend Officials'/work-related meetings as scheduled during the year.
  • Participates in Track Services training seminars at NASCAR's Research & Development Center.
  • Assists with maintaining updated presentations for Track Services.
  • Percent of travel: 90%, including weekends.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), a minimum of four (4) years experience as a Track Services Senior Coordinator; and a minimum of six (6) years of experience as a professional firefighter with extrication experience.
  • EMT certification and Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) certification required.
  • CDL license preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers and employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Proficient on Company provided hardware and software.
  • Knowledge of and ability to use extrication equipment. Ability to use diplomacy when required.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • EMT Certification required.
  • Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) certification required
  • CDL license preferred.
