Tuberculosis (TB) screening, testing - TB screening and testing, is required and must be completed prior to hire ( i.e., preplacement), and maintained during employment

STARTING SALARY: $40.91/hr - $48.13/hr

HOURS: This is a part-time, 20 hour per week role

POSITION SUMMARY: This part-time position focuses on completing bilingual (Spanish) psychological assessments. Primary functions will be to carry an individual psychological assessment caseload and assist with program development with a major focus on bilingual pediatric psychodiagnostics, autism spectrum disorder evaluations, and potential to conduct forensic immigration evaluations. There is also the potential to supervise pre-doctoral interns and doctoral level externs.

WellPower (formerly The Mental Health Center of Denver) is a large, well-established, innovative, and vibrant community mental health center that provides outpatient mental health services to individuals recovering from serious and persistent mental illness. In addition to a complex presentation of psychiatric symptoms, many of our clients have significant trauma histories and complex family systems. Assessment services are in high demand and the department is well-respected within our organization. Services offered by the staff assessment psychologists include evaluation of children and adults for: diagnostic clarification, general intellectual functioning, learning disabilities, adaptive functioning, personality disorders, general emotional and interpersonal functioning, academic achievement, neurodevelopmental disorders, and autism spectrum disorder.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Conduct psychological assessments with diverse outpatient population. Carry own psychological assessment caseload; meet professional deadlines.
  • Active participant on multidisciplinary team; consult internally with other professionals, assist with treatment planning, attend clinical case review meetings, grand rounds etc.
  • Develop Spanish-language assessment library
  • Potential to learn how to conduct thorough forensic immigration evaluations under supervision (if limited prior experience)
  • Complete administrative duties and special projects, such as participation in presentations, research, program development, and other related projects as requested.
  • Assist with continued program development of bilingual assessment services at WellPower and build relationships with internal referral sources
  • Possibility of supervising predoctoral interns and externs (psychology doctoral students) with the following responsibilities:
    • Individual supervision
    • Supervision related to test scoring, interpretation, and report writing
    • Report editing
    • Train students on testing instruments
  • Maintain a trauma informed and multiculturally sensitive environment of wellbeing.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

EDUCATION:
  • Doctoral degree in psychology from an APA accredited program.
  • Completion of APA approved internship with experience in assessment, specifically with pediatric Spanish-speaking populations.
  • License or license eligible in the state of Colorado.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 2 years of bilingual assessment experience.
  • Experience with SPMI and community mental health is preferred.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Knowledge or ability to learn and practice trauma informed principles and practices.
  • Training and experience serving diverse populations; understands the need and importance of delivering multi-culturally sensitive mental health services.
  • Knowledge, training, and experience with bilingual psychological testing (administration, scoring, interpretation, report writing, treatment recommendations, and feedback). Experience with therapeutic feedback letters and stories is a plus.
  • Familiarity and experience with Spanish testing measures (WISC-V, Batería IV, BVAT-NU, ADOS-2, ADI-R, BASC-3, ABAS-3, MACI-II, MPACI, MMPI-A-RF, Roberts-2 etc.). Training in the Rorschach Performance Assessment System (RPAS) and interest in projective testing is preferred.
  • Familiarity with DSM-5 and ICD-10, as well as diagnostic techniques.
  • Experience with a wide range of complex psychiatric presentations.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Good time management and organizational skills; able to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced setting while meeting paperwork and other administrative deadlines.
  • Experience using Electronic Health Records.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with others and to work in integrated team environment; comfortable consulting with other professionals, such as psychiatrists, neuropsychologists, psychologists, therapists, program managers etc.
  • Ability to work with large degree of independence.
  • Ambitious, self-starter who is excited by program development opportunities.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Potential to supervise doctoral level externs and pre-doctoral interns. See "essential job functions" above.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to sit, stand, bend and reach, drive, operate standard office equipment such as phone, computer, facsimile, copier/printer, and other business machines. Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs.

WORKING CONDITIONS: May require occasional evening or weekend hours.
