SUMMARY
Position is responsible for leading, planning, directing, and coordinating the operations of a warehouse facility. This includes ensuring and improving the safety, quality, productivity, cost control, and positive employee relations using the principles of TPS, and other strategies outlined by the company and division directives. The Operation Manager will lead a team of supervisors to carry out the organizations mission.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High School Diploma or GED, with 5-9 years' experience in leadership and supervision. Minimum 5 years' experience working in an automotive environment, with operations supervision utilizing a quality management system, process improvements, creation of standardized work, an understanding of TPS and Problem solving principles.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervision: Coordinate, manage and monitor the various departments within the facility. Utilizes Hoshin and FMDS to communicate the organization's expectations and results.
  • Financial: Prepare and control an annual budget for the facility's operations departments. Review and utilize monthly financial data to improve profitability of the organization. Ensure that effective controls are in place to meet customer and company inventory levels (FIFO, FEFO, cycle counts etc.). Develops controls for and monitors the purchasing of supplies and other expenditures.
  • Safety: Ensures the facility has an effective safety program that meets OSHA and company expectations. Sets targets for safety performance including leading indicators (Hiyari Hatto, Behavioral Based Safety, etc.) and trailing indicators (incident rates). Analyzes safety data to improve safety performance. Ensures the prompt investigation, reporting and countermeasure of safety incidents and audits. Ensures employees have a safety voice through an active safety committee.
  • Environmental: Ensures the facility is compliant to company (ISO14001) and government environmental standards.
  • Productivity: Coordinate and monitor the productivity of various departments within the facility. Sets targets for productivity performance. Analyzes data to improve productivity and implement improvements. Ensures adequate tools and equipment are available for a safe a productive operation. Ensures the facility has a preventive maintenance program for building and production equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Quality: Ensures the facility has effective quality control measures in place to meet internal and external customer expectations. Sets targets for quality performance. Analyzes data to improve quality and implement improvements. Ensures standard operating procedures have been established for the processes within the facility.
  • Human Resources: Plans the effective use of human resources for the facility. Organizes recruitment and placement of required staff. Establishes organization structure and work schedules. Delegates tasks and accountabilities. Creates training and development plans for the various levels of staff to support succession planning and effective operation. Develops plans to improve and maintain high morale of staff. Coaches, counsels, and disciplines subordinates as required.
  • Company Policies: Ensures company policies (HR, Safety, Internal Controls, IT, Accounting, Security, etc.) and other directives are communicated, implemented, and observed though out the organization.
  • Customer Service: Works closely with the Sales Team to meet customer expectations and develop additional value-added services. Responds promptly to internal and external customer issues and concerns with root cause and countermeasures within the specified timeframe.
  • Strategic input: Assists in the development of Operations Hoshin and other strategic plans for the Business Unit.
  • Reporting: Ensures monthly reports are submitted to the appropriate company entity (HR, Safety, Compliance, Security, Division Management) within the specified time frame and with accuracy.
  • Reports to Senior Manager
  • Other duties may be assigned.
