As a member of the Optics and Display Research team (O&DR), you will be responsible for researching and developing novel display and optical materials, components, and systems for AR and VR applications. You will lead the effort of exploring new concepts in imaging display technologies for potential use in VR optic systems. You will be responsible for exploring advanced OLED device technologies to improve key performance indexes for VR applications. You are expected to work with other teams to prove concept viability and demonstrate to product teams' future commercialization.

OLED Device Research Scientist Responsibilities:

  • Lead efforts in advanced OLED devices performance and process technologies to enable innovative concepts and architectures for better display performance in VR applications.
  • Analyze the trade-offs between device stack design, process, optical performance, and implementation feasibility.
  • Lead collaboration with internal teams, academia, and external commercial research labs to investigate advanced OLED concepts and technology.
  • Establish and own the OLED electro-optical simulation platform, and enable the exploration of new optical structure design and device stack up concepts.
  • Support partners to enable demonstrations of total VR optical system prototypes without fully commercialized technologies.
  • Effectively communicate architectures and designs, shepherding the technologies into external suppliers and internal product roadmaps.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. degree or equivalent experience in Material Science, Applied Physics, Optics, Electrical Engineer, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of work experience in technology innovation, designing and testing display hardware in the consumer electronics field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in OLED device technology development in mass production flat panel industry.
  • Experience in OLED optical and electrical simulation.
  • Experience characterizing an OLED device's thin-film material and optical and electrical performance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of industrial experience in OLED device technology in material, optics, or display technologies.
  • 5+ years of industrial experience in OLED direct patterning technology and evaporation equipment systems.
  • 5+ years of experience in OLED micro-display technology, Considerable technical skills in display electronics, optics, physics, systems engineering, image/color processing, graphics.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and flexible environment delivering solutions that far outperform current state-of-the-art solutions.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills in cross-group and cross-culture collaboration.
