Your Role:

As an Occupational Health Nurse in Danvers, MA, you will be responsible for developing, interpreting, and administering the health activities for this site. The nurse is responsible for providing direct care in acute and emergency medical situations and assisting with other occupational and environmental health services staff as needed. The nurse will assist ill and injured workers to reach maximum health and productivity and achieve quality care in a cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides initial assessment of on-the-job injuries and illnesses and refers for further evaluation as necessary.
  • Coordinates testing and follow-up for COVID-19 suspected cases onsite.
  • Coordinates and provides for the appropriate care, treatment, and follow up of work-related health events based on knowledge of the specific work environment.
  • Assesses acute nonoccupational illnesses occurring at work, determines need for immediacy of treatment, and gives guidance to seek care from personal health providers.
  • Performs medical surveillance testing in compliance with regulatory agencies and corporate policy and procedures.
  • Maintains and safeguards confidentiality of employee health information and employee health records.
  • Develops and monitors the budget process to provide for efficient and cost-effective occupational health nursing services.
  • Collaborates with other members of the corporate occupational and environmental health and safety team, such as occupational medicine physicians, primary care providers, industrial hygienists, safety professionals, and human resource professionals to optimize worker health.
  • Coordinates case management services for the individual worker to achieve optimal outcomes in a cost-effective manner.
  • Coordinates and administers the Family and Medical Leave Act, Worker's Compensation, and the ADA with EMD Millipore's applicable disability policies.
  • Assists supervisors and employees with return-to-work issues including modified scheduling and job accommodations.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional development and continuing education.
  • Develops and provides education to employees using a variety of technologies

The position will include access to all areas of the facility which may result in exposure to hazards.

Physical Attributes:
  • Perform moderately physical activity.
  • Working near moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or hazardous chemicals.
  • Able to frequently sit, stand; walk; use hands, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Wear an air helmet, mask, safety shoes, apron rubber and tyvek suits, protective gloves, safety glasses and/or goggles while performing in this position.
  • The employee may be exposed to unknown biological agents
  • Acuity of hearing is also required.

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Current/active license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Massachusetts
  • Certification in occupational health

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ years experience in occupational health
  • Knowledge of occupational and environmental health, case management, government regulations, team process, and computer processes and additional education appropriate to the work setting, e.g., PFT's, hearing conservation, basic life support.
  • Broad knowledge of individual and group behavior, including employee relationships.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work with all levels of management.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
  • Current knowledge of laws and regulations governing worker and worksite safety and health (i.e., OSHA, worker's compensation, Americans with Disabilities Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, etc.).
