Job Description

The News Media Specialist will support the production process from development through post-production and delivery with an emphasis on the latter two. Responsibilities and tasks will include, but are not limited to: ingesting media from various sources, editing with Adobe Premiere as well as other Adobe Products, transcoding media to fit varying editing needs, using in-house camera/lighting gearin response to studio and field shoots alike, and working with the onsite archive system for long term media management.
Specific responsibilities include:
• Daily archiving of the previous days media via PC platforms;
• Finding, transcoding, and prepping B-roll for field editors via Adobe Media Encoder;
• Editing of pre-produced segments from start to finish as well as aiding in finishing field segments;
• Using various Dalet based workflows to deliver and retrieve footage as requested;
• Working collaboratively with all news room departments to ensure program delivery;
• Assembling and delivering visual elements for broadcast on a daily basis including but not limited to photos, designed graphics, maps, charts, quotes, b-roll, segments, web videos and promotional materials;
• Additional duties, as assigned.

Qualified candidates will have exceptional planning, organization, problem analysis as well as familiarity with camera equipment and PC computers to aid field editors with troubleshooting. Additional qualifications include:

  • A minimum of three (3) years in multimedia production; news/news-related environment necessary;
  • Ability to shoot and edit video (Premiere); proficiency with Dalet;
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication, and presentation skills;
  • Solid interpersonal communication skills.

Candidates with experience in a news environment are preferred. The ability to manage time efficiently will be necessary in this deadline-oriented environment.

Salary ranges are based on benchmarked nonprofit and industry related data provided by an outside consulting firm and are commensurate with skills and experience. The hiring salary range for this position is $58,500.00 - $62,000.00. Internal equity considerations will be reviewed before making a final offer.
