The Network Communications Administrator maintains smooth operation of local area, worldwide and virtual private networks (VPN). Plans, evaluates, and coordinates installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings. Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions. Provides regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems. May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment. May design network or portion of network that include selection of hardware and software packages. Other duties: Maintain operational procedures and guides and create tickets to document all break/fix incidents via JIRA or other similar application.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree and two years of Network Communications experience. In lieu of formal education, six years of relevant job experience may be considered
  • Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends and support on call status for 24 hours-a-day, 5 days-a-week.
  • COMP TIA Security + Certification
  • TCP/IP transport network design and engineering, network routing protocols, advanced virtual networking technologies
  • Performing upgrades and performing routine network operations and maintenance (O&M).
  • Identifying and implementing INFOSEC and COMSEC security requirements for the network.
  • Complex configuration management techniques and requirements for managing network systems
  • Network operating and maintenance concepts and methods used to troubleshoot network problems for LAN, WAN, VPN, SD-WAN and VoIP
  • Cisco IOS, including switching, routing, segment routing and other technologies
Preferred Qualifications:

    • Variety of network technologies and solution architectures
    • Broad understanding of technical principle, theories, and concepts in the networking field.
    • Knowledge of state-of-the-art systems engineering principles and network design concepts
    • Virtualization experience (VDI & VMWare)
    • Security best practices and implementing firewalls and perimeter security measures including VPN technologies
    • Continuous integration, test automation and/or SecDevOps on iterative development projects
    • Agile Development methodologies
    • Cisco Certifications: CCNA or CCNP
