Position Summary:

Sets up and performs Non Destructive inspection (Magnetic Particle and Fluorescent Pentrant) of all Products in accordance with product specifications and workmanship standards. Follows established methods of inspection and procedures to determine product compliance. Make complex calculations and set-ups to perform in process, first article and final inspection as required on the product routing. May guide the work of other employees and provide training as required.

Key Position Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Responsible for performing receiving, in process and final NDT lab inspections utilizing approved lab equipment, standard measuring equipment, special test equipment in accordance with established procedures.
  • Records and reports findings and/or deviations from product specifications using standard forms in compliance with established procedures. Records and files such documents as required by the Quality Assurance system in accordance product specifications.
  • Assists manufacturing, engineering and production control with matters pertaining to improved methods to eliminate product discrepancies.
  • May be required to sort for discrepancies using approved established methods and/or measurement techniques according to Quality procedures.
  • May be required to train, teach and direct other lab/quality personnel in the approved methods of NDT lab inspection techniques in accordance with departmental procedures.
  • Operates all NDT laboratory inspection equipment required to perform duties and maintains such equipment in operating order as to prevent any false readings or findings.
  • Communicates with management, manufacturing and production control any product deviations that would prevent compliance to product specifications.
  • May be required to perform inspection on product returns and failure analysis to eliminate future product returns.
  • Recommend procedural changes and equipment enhancements that will advance the NDT Quality Lab to become more efficient.
  • Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) activities with respect to resolution of non-conforming materials as required.
  • Other related duties as required.

Essential Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
  • Must read, write, and follow instructions in English fluently.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
  • Must have ability to use moderately complex measuring devices and fixtures.
  • Minimum 1 year’s experience and Level II Certification in Magnetic Particle and Fluorescent Pentrant Inspection.
  • Learn how to monitor equipment maintenance and adhere to safety regulations. Learn how to perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs as required.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or necessitated by change or condition.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed.

Desired Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
  • Experience and knowledgeable in Aerospace industry standards.
  • Knowledge of Military and government specifications.
  • Prior experience in a Quality environment in a related industry.
  • Technical training and Certificate in Quality Control is preferred.
  • Knowledge and use of NDT lab inspection and measurement equipment.
  • Ability to plan, organize, schedule and coordinate NDT lab activity.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

ITAR Requirement:
  • Due to ITAR regulations, this position requires that the employee must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident) or a Foreign Person for whom a license is obtained.
Quality Requirement:
  • Employees will participate as required in understanding, implementing and maintaining the Company Quality Policy in accordance with AS-9100C and/or ISO-9001:2009 requirements.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:
  • The position may require visits to suppliers and potential suppliers, including travel to customers and distributors. The position is expected to access, enter, and retrieve data by using a computer terminal.
