Position Overview

Novelis has an immediate opening for an Associate Category manager.

The Associate Category manager is accountable to develop and execute the regional-specific sourcing strategies for a non-metal procurement sub-category or segment of, of spend with the goal to ensure supply security of materials or services, the lowest total cost-of-ownership, generate balanced savings and value creation through innovation, and risk management. They are also responsible for executing Strategic Source Plans that assess supply markets, competing buyers, position of Novelis, portfolio analysis, supplier cost analysis, strategic options and source recommendations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive knowledge of the supplier base and the respective value chains to ensure continuity of supply.
  • Proactively challenge both the needs of the business and the optimal means of meeting those needs including the consideration of alternative materials, transportation modes, services, processes, and/or vendors.
  • Assist in developing and facilitating productivity, innovation, and cost savings workshops within the region.
  • Manage cost savings projects (Project Management) and fiscal year savings and/or value capture.
  • Influence and engagement to support cross-functional key stakeholders from across Novelis, including commercial, manufacturing, technical, engineering, manufacturing excellence, R&D, Finance, IT, Legal, etc.
  • Technical Know-how of the major materials, supply flows, and market sectors with a focus on costs, supplier options, and vulnerabilities that can impact the efficiency of operations or service to customers. Implement risk mitigation efforts in collaboration with other cross-functional teams to address these vulnerabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills that allows the Procurement Leadership to get the "voice of the Customer" & to understand the company Culture and how to best communicate Procurement's value to it.
  • Negotiate with key suppliers and ensure we have approved contracts in place.
  • Execute supplier risk management process.
  • Maintain strategic and critical supplier relationships.
  • Identify lower cost materials alternatives and design to current/existing supplier products or services.
  • Drive Supplier Innovation workshops to improve our cost position for products and services.
  • Support Procurement Spend Intelligence program and DAP.
  • Manage supplier to the defined SQRM process.
  • Support SQRM process and deployment of supplier scorecards for our key and critical suppliers.
  • Flexibility with potential to travel up to 50% of the time
Responsibilities & Qualifications
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree or MBA a plus
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years in Procurement or Supply Chain
  • Strong Leadership, Interpersonal, and Communication skills
  • Experience in Negotiation and Commercial Terms Management
  • Strong quantitative, project management, and data analysis skills
  • Highly effective communications in all levels of the organization
  • Able to influence and thrive in a Team environment
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office; SAP experience is a plus
  • Prior experience leading the strategic sourcing and commodity management
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with a multi-national organization.
  • Experienced with supply base management, logistics, and supply chain management.
  • Negotiation experience in a dynamic market is a plus.
  • Ability to work at all levels of the organization
  • Able to work cross-functionally within a Manufacturing environment
  • Experience with development of Category/Commodity Strategy
  • Communication, alignment, and management of metrics to support seamless cooperation between plant procurement teams and business objectives
  • Able to influence Teams through Projects, Challenges, and Opportunities in a matrix Organization
  • CPM and Green Belt certification
