Job Summary:

The Mental Health Clinician performs the duties of a behavioral health clinician, providing generalist clinical services to college students, and consultation services to faculty, staff, students and parents/families during the heavily demanded periods Fall and Spring semesters.

Duties:

* Provides multi-culturally informed generalist mental health counseling services, including general mental health, substance use, and attention problem screenings and individual and group counseling and psychotherapy to Miami University students presenting with a wide range of mental health concerns during the heavily demanded Fall and Spring Semesters.
* Intervenes in crisis and emergency situations of a mental health nature with students.
* Consults with families, faculty, staff and other professionals regarding the mental health needs of students.
* Maintains clinical records and provides clinical documentation and communication with external practitioners as necessary for ethical clinical treatment.
* Assumes responsibility for other administrative duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Earned masters degree in an appropriate accredited mental health training program (social work, mental health counseling, psychology, etc.)
* Independently licensed or licensed eligible in Ohio within one's field of training. Unlicensed psychology post-doctoral trainees are also encouraged to apply.

Desired Qualifications:

* Specific training and experience providing mental health services to a university student population.
* Independently licensed in Ohio within one's field of training.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Experience working in mental health counseling/therapy
* Experience in crisis assessment/management/intervention, short-term treatment, and confidentiality requirements
* Demonstrated skills in working well under pressure to prioritize and manage multiple clinical situations and to coordinate these efforts as a part of a multidisciplinary team
* Energy to flexibly manage the professional demands of a challenging workload while maintaining positive and healthy perspectives and relationships
* Collaborative spirit of warmth, acceptance, respect, and trust towards colleagues
* Demonstrated sensitivity and commitment to multicultural issues/social justice and proven ability to interact with diverse individuals and groups
* Self-motivated, self-directed commitment to high professional ideals, standards and ethics
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
