This job assumes responsibility for coordinating all send out tests to reference laboratories, including sample preparation and shipping and test resulting in LIS computer from reference laboratories. This job assists reference lab representatives, correlates reference lab invoices with tests sent out and ensures information on reference labs are current according to regulatory agency guidelines. Additionally, coordinates collection manual updates and annual review of manual. This job assists department personnel with problems or questions as needed.

Education

Required - Bachelor's degree


Work Experience
Required - None.


Certifications

Required - Medical Technologist ASCP registry, ASCP Certification Maintenance, SBB certification, Temporary license issued by the State as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in the state of practice, Must meet CLIA and CAP requirements for testing personnel relative to scope of duties
Preferred - Current license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist in the state of practice

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.
  • Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Analytical skills and logical thought processes to formulate practical solutions to problems.
  • Ability to and experience managing stress in order to maintain a professional atmosphere and provide quality service to our patients.
  • Ability to work with and experience working with frequent interruptions and frequent changes in priorities.


Job Duties

  • Processes specimens.
  • Participates in training programs and acts as a resource for other lab personnel.
  • Performs duties utilizing time management/organizational skills.
  • Supports departmental goals and objectives.
  • Adheres to regulatory agency compliance.
  • Other related duties as required.
