PRIMARY POSITION FUNCTION/SUMMARY:

Illinois' innovative saliva test across the state. We save lives by curbing the spread of COVID-19, while reducing productivity loss and prioritizing employee wellbeing. SHIELD Illinois uses cutting-edge PCR technology and robotics to deliver fast reliable results to patients. We strive to have a positive impact on patients' lives across Illinois by making complicated testing and long turnaround times a thing of the past. The function of this position is to manage the Regional Operations Network. Within this network, we will transport saliva samples from client sites to funnel sites, and funnel sites to molecular diagnostic labs. We will also transport supplies throughout the region as necessary to ensure optimal operation. The incumbent of this position would work closely with multiple internal groups to ensure this network runs smoothly. The Regional Operations Manager would manage the team of Medical Supplies Transporters.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create a safe and healthy environment for medical supplies transporters
  • Work with multiple internal groups to establish processes and procedures
  • Support the Regional Operations Network; a network for consolidating and shipping out COVID-19 specimens in short time frames
  • Manage and direct staff within the Regional Operations Network
  • Ensure proper personal protective equipment (PPE) is utilized by staff
  • Establish training procedures/materials for new staff
  • Train new employees on processes and procedures
  • Create dynamic schedules for part-time and full-time employees based on their schedules
  • Assist with the analysis of demand and volumes for multiple clients to achieve goals
  • Work with other internal groups to determine which lab to send samples to, based on lab capacity and applicable volume
  • Continually work to identify pain points and process improvements
  • Update processes and procedures, as needed
  • Create an engaging, positive, and upbeat culture
  • Solve problems in situations that do not have specific precedents or clearly defined boundaries
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Possession of a valid State of Illinois driver's license

Preferred
  • Previous experience managing people early in their careers
  • Previous experience owning your own business
  • Previous experience in a startup environment
  • Previous experience working in a COVID related environment
  • Experience managing itineraries or schedules

Successful Candidates will have
  • Ability to manage people and processes
  • Ability to create a safe and healthy environment
  • Ability to mentor younger people, potentially early in their careers or still in school
  • Ability to be onsite for some of the time to be determined with the direct supervisor
  • Ability to be agile in a startup environment
  • Ability to train and mentor staff members
  • Ability to manage multiple moving parts

This is a full-time Civil Service Public Health Response Specialist position appointed on a 12-month service basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. Salary will be commensurate with experience.
