Summary:

  • Responsible for the design of and development of new and existing window product for rail and bus industries.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Working knowledge of applicable industry specifications and guidelines related to passenger transport window systems (ANSI, FAR, APTA, FMVSS etc.).
  • Experience in the design and fabrication of aluminum and rubber extrusions, safety glazing.
  • Working knowledge of glazing retention methods including adhesives and mechanically interlocking clip assemblies.
  • Working knowledge of SolidWorks (or equivalent) CAD modeling and drawing creation software.
  • Working knowledge of FEA analysis software is a plus.
  • Must demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills with working knowledge of 8D, FMEA, Fishbone, 5 Y, Shainin etc. techniques / processes.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree (B. S.) in Engineering with four (4) years of experience in the field or in a related area.
  • Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on instruction and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under limited supervision.
  • Primary job function requires exercising some independent judgment.
  • Experience in automotive, heavy transport and/or commercial window system designs preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Mechanical Design - Ability to create production drawings form pre-existing models using model dimensions. Create new models based on pre-existing conditions.
  • Mechanical Analysis - Understand engineering statics.
  • Mechanical Elements and Processes - Understand elements and processes such as fastener types.
  • Practical knowledge of basic trigonometry, basic algebra, and quadratic equations
  • Ability to utilize Creo - basic modeling and assembly, technical drawing standards and drafting practices, sections, detail views, and exploded assemblies.
  • Solid Works knowledge.
