COMPANY OVERVIEW

Mechanical Specialties Contractors performs fabrication and installation of High Purity and Process Piping Systems for industrial, scientific & pharmaceutical customers.

SUMMARY

The responsibility of a Mechanical Designer is to work with Project teams to create general arrangement drawings, detail drawings, fabrication drawings, and Revit models. Additionally, the Mechanical Designer would create complete custom designs for sheet metal fabrications, including creating a bill of materials, and working with vendors and fabricators to create custom parts and assemblies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and responsibilities include the following, but others may be assigned:

  • Create highly detailed and accurate drawings.
  • Create Revit models and coordinate layouts during BIM meetings
  • Work with vendors to have parts and components fabricated
  • Work with the Project team to create general arrangement drawings. This will include internal and external customers.
  • Maintain documentation, files, and drawings.
  • Support various department's needs.
QUALIFICATIONS

PREFERRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Employee should possess Associate Degree in Electrical/Electronic field, and/or have a minimum of ten years technical background.
  • 3-5 years' experience with AutoCAD.
  • 1-3 years' experience with Revit
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel user.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Word user.
  • Experience with sheet metal design is preferred.
  • Experience in construction design is preferred.
  • SolidWorks experience is not required but would be an advantage.
PREFERRED SKILLS and ABILITIES
  • Requires accuracy and ability to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects.
  • Candidate must be mechanically inclined.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to self-schedule and estimate workloads/deadlines.
  • Job may require work on weekends and after hours.
  • Job may require some site visit travel.
  • Knowledge of electrical and refrigeration systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge of duct layout and sizing is preferred.
  • 90-95% of daily work is drafting and designing.
COMPUTER SKILLS
  • Fluent in computer operations including all Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, etc.).

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to commute to field locations to accurately perform takeoffs. The employee must have the ability to navigate around job site location.
