REPORTS TO: Material Program Manager, Material Program Financial Lead

SUPERVISES: None.

AUTHORITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for financial planning, analysis and projection of program material and subcontract costs
  • Explore current and historical financial data and predict future results
  • Identify trends in financial performance and provide recommendations for improvement; help drive process and policy improvements
  • Prepare reports and projections based on this analysis
  • Forecast future expenditures and create rent versus buy analysis to support program capital expenditure requests
  • Coordinate with other members of the program office and finance team to review financial information and forecasts
  • Generate financial models and forecasting
  • Establish a ship's budget and work with buyers and production management to create spend plans
  • Create and continually monitor material spending versus the budget, researching variances and generating variance analysis reports and budget adjustment requests as needed
  • Work regularly with various levels of Austal's management team
  • Work with Cost Accountants to ensure accurate costs or accruals are taken on all material purchases
  • Calculate accurate earned value progress for material control (cost) accounts and Estimates at Completion (EAC) for multiple vessels
  • Manage assigned Control Accounts
  • Support EVMS Accountants in the submittal of accurate CPR reports as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS / KNOWLEDGE / EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Statistics, Economics or another related field and 4 years' purchasing, accounting, or financial experience required OR candidates without a degree may be considered with at least 8 years' of purchasing, accounting, or financial experience.
  • Expert-level analytical and financial modeling skills
  • Advanced skills with Excel spreadsheets using SUMIF and VLOOKUP formulas
  • Strategic thinking and very detail oriented
  • Good presentation skills
  • Ability to influence and persuade
  • Excellent time management and organizational ability
  • Ability to multitask and meet constant deadlines
  • Able to work long hours when necessary
  • Working knowledge of and experience in EVMS reporting and analysis preferred
  • Ability to analyze data and communicate analysis to Austal management
  • Knowledge of ERP Systems and data tables; ODBC experience a plus
  • Active learner interested in career growth and development

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; Outlook, Excel, Word, Access a plus

ADDITIONAL GUIDELINES:
  • Candidates must meet the following employment eligibility guidelines to be considered for employment with Austal USA:
    • 18 years of age or older.
    • Able to provide proof of US Person Status
    • No felony convictions of Theft/Deception or Violent crimes within seven years from disposition date
    • No felony convictions of Drug crimes within three years from disposition date
    • Willing to submit to a drug screen
    • Willing to submit to a background check
