Job Summary
This position involves general shipping and receiving functions as well as other basic warehouse operations.
MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance)

• Enters shipment data in the SAP/VWR shipping and inventory system, the UPS online shipping software and the HAZMAT shipping software, as required.
• Operates the forklift, hand truck and pallet jack for the safe loading and unloading of delivery trucks, safe placement and maneuvering of product in, on, and around pallet racking and other staging areas.
• Safely unloads delivery trucks as required, verifies quantity and product type from suppliers, enters data entry and purchase order receipt functions in computer system, places products in appropriate bins.
• Prepares sales orders: Verifies product number to sales order line item, pulls correct quantities of products for order compilation, packages items for shipment, palletizes larger shipments, compiles shipment weights for inclusion on shipment waybill, completes all shipping documents, verifies and affixes proper shipping documents and other labelling as required for specific products.
• Order Shipping: Arranges pickup of shipments, verifies order contents, weights, etc. with trucking company drivers prior to shipment departure, safely loads shipments in trucks as required.
• General Warehousing Tasks: housekeeping, inventory organization, accurate and detailed record keeping.
• Reports security and/or health and safety infractions or potential infractions in a timely manner and to the appropriate contacts.
• Performs other related tasks that his/her supervisor deems necessary for the efficient operation of the department.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications)

• High School education or GED is required
• OSHA Forklift and HAZMAT certification is an asset
• Previous work experience is an asset

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)

• Must be able to read and write in English, count accurately, do simple math (add, subtract, multiply) and problem solve independently.
• Must be familiar with warehouse computer systems and proficient keyboarding skills.
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures with an emphasis on safety as well as company policies and procedures.
• Must be able to use proper techniques to lift 50 pounds.
• Must be able to shift priorities easily.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is exposed to an industrial warehouse environment. The associate works near moving mechanical machinery and noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The job requires working in heights, exposure to changes in temperature, driving equipment, and maybe exposed to dust, fumes, or gases.

The associate is required to stand and walk for the majority of the working day. The physical requirements of the job are for associates to talk, hear, bend/stoop, squat, crawl, climb height, reach above shoulder height, crouch, kneel, balance, and push/pull. Furthermore, the job requires associates to lift/carry/push or pull up to 75 pounds with or without assistance. Associates use both hands for repetitive actions such as grasping and manipulating as well as both feet for repetitive movement operating foots controls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
