Location / Division Specific Information

The Thermo Fisher Scientific Memphis site is part of the PSG-CTD Division. It is a multi-product and multi-client biopharmaceutical site. We provide storage and order fulfillment of commercial and commercial free pharmaceutical products for our clients. We have capabilities to support and store products that require cold chain and ambient processing.

How will you make an impact?

As a Material Handler I you will perform an array of duties such as receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, packing and shipping orders, or managing, organizing, and retrieving stock and other supplies utilizing a forklift, reach truck, dock stocker, turret truck and/or an order picker. Lead a safe, compliant, and profitable execution of all related processes and facilities continuous improvement. These duties will be performed according to established safety, security, and quality guidelines in our GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) facility.

What will you do?

  • Prepares samples or clinical agents or collection kits in accordance to with Standard Work instructions for pickups, courier deliveries and shipments.
  • Responsible for using Warehouse Management System (WMS) for data entry and material/product tracking.
  • Conduct work in a safe and effective manner and take appropriate action to fix unsafe acts, systems, and procedures.
  • Using a picking equipment you will examine, pick, pack, sort, arrange, count, store, and accurately process items for storage and/or shipment in accordance with established procedures
  • Maintain inventory accuracy by verifying quantity, lot number, expiration date and product name
  • Load and unload trucks as needed via forklift or pallet jacks
  • Wrap, weigh, & prepare shipments on skids/pallets
  • Willing to cross-train and work in multiple areas of the warehouse
  • Handle fragile products, removing damaged products as necessary
  • Ability to respond to and/or communicate using emails or other software on a professional manner
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement - PPI (Practical Process Improvement) events by entering JDIs and performing Gemba's and promotes companies vision of 4 I's
  • Follow quality protocols, aligning with Warehouse and Good Distribution polices and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and safety procedures as well as cGMP and cGDP
  • Learn, adapt, and train on new concepts or businesses
  • Processes cold chain products as the need arises, in a -20 freezer and 2-8 cooler
  • Other duties as assigned
Education
  • High School diploma or GED
Experience Required
  • 2+ years warehouse experience
  • 2+ years forklift equipment experience a must
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong sense of urgency
  • Walk and stand up to six hours at a time
  • Can interact and use WMS and RF scanning devices to perform basic distribution tasks
  • Ability to wear PPE as required
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to work weekends and overtime
