Job Summary

The Market Research Analyst is responsible for the collection, analysis and communication of a wide spectrum of industry, competitive and other marketing information.

Reporting Structure:

The Market Research Analyst will report to the Market Research Manager as a part of the Financial Planning and Analysis team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion market research throughout Benjamin Moore
  • Work closely with Product Marketing team to integrate usability studies and research into product requirements to enhance user satisfaction and ensure customer driven design (product usage testing)
  • Plan, lead and execute logistics for product usage testing from securing facitities to recruiting, observing, measuring and reporting customer feedback
  • Collect, interpret and communicate market information in our category especially for branding, advertising, product development for the professional and consumer segments.
  • Perform data analysis on marketing and sales data bases to drive marketing programs and mine for insights
  • Analyze and interpret primary and secondary marketing research relating to our brands, segments, and competitors within those segments. Make recommendations based on the analysis
  • Synthesize data, market information and competitive intelligence to provide actionable insights and business trend information
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly newsletter highlighting insights from recent and ongoing market research and industry studies
  • Responsible for industry/market insights trends to help with BM sales planning/forecasting process
  • Summarize financial results of key competitors on quarterly basis
  • Conduct custom primary market research as needed, including but not limited to Segmentation Studies, Attitude & Usage Studies, Brand Positioning Studies, Packaging & Label Research, Advertising Research, Product Usage Tests, Product Claims Research, Color & Merchandising Research
  • Develop questionnaires and field surveys as needed
  • Create library and database of market research and related information
  • Work collaboratively with brand and product teams to understand and meet information needs
  • Ensure the integrity and correct interpretation of all marketing information
  • Communicate findings via reports and presentations to marketing management
  • Stay current with market research and data analytic tools and methodologies


Required Skills

  • Undergraduate or advanced degree in Market Research, Finance, Statistics, Computer Science
  • Knowledge of marketing principles, marketing analytics industry, including industry leaders, trends and changes
  • Ability to apply research results to the practical considerations of day-to-day Marketing and operational business challenges
  • Strong Excel/PowerPoint skills, Proficiency with Business Objects and other mining tools
  • Expertise and current hands-on experience with survey tools such as Survey Monkey and Qualtrics
  • Ability to communicate openly and honestly with colleagues and customers and influence. Takes personal responsibility for the quality and content of the work, and complies with information confidentiality requirements where applicable
  • Ability to work in a rapidly evolving environment and quickly grasp new concepts by demonstrating and applying knowledge of these tasks timely and accurately
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships by collaborating with customers by fully understanding and meeting their expectations
  • Seen as a team player that encourages collaboration and quickly gains trust and support of peers. Finds common ground and solves problems for the benefits of all
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • This position requires a minimum of 15% to 20% travel
  • There are minimal physical requirements for this position
