The Procurement Process Engineer is a multi-responsibility role that will support both procurement and manufacturing from two vantage points:

  • Manage complex projects with new suppliers to assess technical and operational capability that meets quality, cost, run rates, and delivery requirements; acts as the key liaison for conveying technical information back & forth between Blue Crest and the supplier; is the subject matter expert for the products received and then installed within Blue Crest.
  • Provide engineering support to the overall manufacturing organization that results in maximizing output, revenue, and earnings. This will be accomplished through the deployment of traditional engineering duties that include but are not limited to time studies, facility & workstation redesigns, deployment of standard work, POU tooling & fixturing, and documentation updating, working in a collaborative manner with manufacturing personnel and across all other functional areas of the business. Will also assist in NPD activity, that ensures proper "handoffs" occur from engineering into manufacturing. The position will be a resource for all plant quality efforts to ensure the highest quality product is delivered. As needed the role will also participate in OPEX activities supporting the objective of maximizing output, revenue, and earnings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

General and Task Management

  • Ensures all activities have a safety 1st
  • Develops close working rapport with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Subject matter expert for all programs initiated and/or transferred from suppliers.
  • Documents all project activity into the ME/OPEX archive folder.
  • Stakeholder for all engineering document change notifications and ensures timely implementation.
  • Follows a 5S agenda for all plant and workstation layout activity.
  • Identifies and implements countermeasures to improve manufacturing efficiencies as required.
  • Responsible for ensuring proper training to manufacturing, engineering, quality, and supplier personnel as required.
  • Develops ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement (ie: supplier management, single piece flow, work order kitting, bar code adoption, performance management, Kanban setup & implementation, etc.).

Relationship Management

  • Works collaboratively with suppliers, Blue Crest production floor, purchasing, finance, and other business stakeholders to ensure highest quality and cost of product is achieved to serve the aggregate business needs.
  • Attend meetings and update others on issues relating to cost, quality, or yield concerns, specifically if there is risk in meeting customer demands.
  • Build and maintain supplier relationships that ensure on time delivery, maximize yields, and foster honest communication that optimize service levels.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from four-year college or university required.
  • 8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with a focus on electro-mechanical assembly and knowledge of component manufacturing processes such machining, stamping, injection molding, and finishing.
  • Program management experience with complex electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, models, and other product documentation.
  • Ability to perform statistical analysis for product validation and verification.
  • Familiarity with SPC techniques and requirements for attaining Cpk of 1.33 or higher at component level processes.
  • Demonstrated competency with cross-functional engagement, collaboration, and supervision of personnel.
  • Proficient computer skills - Microsoft Office applications, with a focus on Excel to deliver data-driven, recommendations to executive stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Engineering software such as MATLAB, Solidworks, and Minitab.
  • Direct ERP experience - Microsoft D365 is a plus.
