Fair Lawn, NJ - Laboratory Chemicals Division (LCD)

How will you make an impact?

You will lead the smooth running of our manufacturing facility while achieving delivery of targets through the effective management, development and coaching of your team, identifying, and implementing continuous process improvements, team engagement and staff involvement.

You will be focused on all manufacturing operations at the Fair Lawn site such that optimum customer service and quality standards are achieved efficiently whilst maintaining and developing a safe working environment and culture.

A day in the life:

  • Provides leadership to assigned manufacturing team by leading organizational change and building as well as developing effective teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals; driving engagement and creating a climate where staff are motivated to do their best.
  • Enhance service levels and drive continuous improvement activities while maintaining an efficient and safe manufacturing environment.
  • Management of daily operations including ownership of safety, process control, training, problem solving, planning, communications, employee development and continuous improvement while delivering production output versus agreed plan.
  • Lead the delivery of operational budget goals by driving the reduction of costs through effective use of resources (labor, energy, raw materials) and effective forward planning for down days, projects, PPI etc.
  • Conduct training sessions for staff on new processes, procedures, or technologies.
  • Update and revise manufacturing documents, such as work instructions, SOPs, and process flowcharts, to reflect current practices and ensure compliance.
  • Process analysis and improvement:
  • Gather and analyze data related to production performance, process capabilities, and quality metrics.
  • Identify areas for improvement and brainstorm potential solutions based on data analysis and industry standard processes.
  • Continuously analyze manufacturing data to track progress, measure the impact of implemented changes, and identify further improvement opportunities.
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings, recommendations, and progress updates to management and partners.
  • Active involvement in Tier meetings and Practical Process Improvement (PPI) activities
  • Liaison with Supply Chain to ensure full availability of material to meet customer orders.
  • Identify capital project opportunities & participate in project meetings.
  • Ensure that all Value Stream activities adhere to the Site Quality Management System by promoting and incorporating good manufacturing practices which are implemented consistently.
  • Work directly with the Engineering Function to ensure the equipment and operating environment are maintained and designed to the agreed standards to ensure high levels of safety and efficiency.
  • Analyze and critique operational key performance metrics and take actions or provide recommendations to continuously improve performance.
  • Fill in for Sr. Manager, Manufacturing as needed and be Subject Matter Authority for your work stream handling customer audits/ visits etc. when required.

How will you get there?

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • 5+ years manufacturing supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of chemical distillation process and chemical processing desired.
Experience
  • Experience leading a large team, within a manufacturing environment.
  • Ideally, candidate will have experience using PPI or similar CI methodology.
  • Ability to engage, coach, develop and performance management employees.
  • Ability to influence people at all levels from the Management Teams to Leadership level.
  • Experience leading a team effectively through significant change.
  • Safety, quality, and environment management through ISO standards.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to capture, interpret, and analyze complex data sets.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to prepare reports and presentations to communicate findings, recommendations, and progress updates to senior management and partners.
  • Ability to make timely decisions and knows when to delegate.
  • Experience working within cross functional teams and providing governance on project teams.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
