Develop and implement a formalized export compliance program (ECP) that meets or exceeds U.S. governmental published standards and expectations, including:

  • draft and implement department-specific SOPs for export and sanctions compliance;
  • develop and deliver internal training/education for relevant employees (at the relevant levels) beginning with: (1) a general training on trade compliance for all employees potentially involved with activities impacted by U.S. export control and sanctions requirements; and (2) ECP implementation training and department-specific implementation workshops;
  • draft standard, "starting point" export and sanctions compliance contract language for incorporation into new and future contracts by the Legal Department; and
  • develop an export and sanctions compliance internal audit plan and SOP, and "train-the-internal auditor" on implementation of the internal audit plan and SOP.

Develop and implement a formalized import compliance program (ICP) that meets or exceeds U.S. governmental published standards and expectations, including:
  • draft and implement department-specific SOPs for import compliance;
  • develop and deliver internal training/education for relevant employees (at the relevant levels) beginning with: (1) a general training on trade compliance for all employees potentially involved with activities impacted by U.S. import requirements; and (2) ICP implementation training and department-specific implementation workshops;
  • draft standard, "starting point" import compliance contract language for incorporation into new and future contract by the Legal Department; and
  • develop an import compliance internal audit plan and SOP, and "train-the-internal auditor" on implementation of the internal audit plan and SOP.
  • Establish and implement corporate procedures and lead the management of Lamb Weston's business requirements as they relate to import and export of finished goods from our own manufacturing plants, as well as co-manufacturers.
  • Ensure the enterprise meets its obligations under all import and export laws for goods, commodities, software and technology as wells as sanctions laws and regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with US anti-boycott laws.
  • Read, analyze, and apply U.S. Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), qualify goods under FTAs, and issue of Certificates of Origin.
  • Read, analyze, and apply complex trade regulations and requirements, including but not limited to:
    • U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations
    • U.S. Census Bureau, Foreign Trade Division (FTD) regulation
    • U.S. Dept. of Commerce's Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) regulations
    • U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
    • Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), including the Foreign Assets Control Regulations (FACR)
  • Classify merchandise on the Harmonized Tariff Schedule of the United States
  • Determine the country of origin of exported, re-exported, and imported merchandise.
  • Review/submit export filings using AESDirect.
  • Determine when export licenses are required and manage and maintain same;
  • Interface with and exercise effective oversight of contracted freight forwarders and customs brokers in the U.S. and overseas.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on cross-border transactions.
  • Collaborate with Innovation, Regulatory Affairs, Plant Operations, Procurement, Contract Manufacturing, Quality, Project Management, Marketing and Sales, IT, Legal and other functional areas.
  • Maintains knowledge of trade-related regulations, trends, and developments.

Basic & Preferred Qualifications

Job Qualifications
  • BS in Food Science or BA in Business, Communications, or related field required.
  • Minimum 7 years of food industrial experience Regulatory Affairs, or Import/Export management, Customs broker license preferred.
  • Excellent report writing, interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and apply complex documents and regulations.
  • Demonstrated management experience of direct reports.
  • Ability to train and teach others.
  • Exceptional relationship skills to achieve strong partnership and collaboration, both internally
  • and externally.
  • Relevant experience with government regulatory agency requirements in food processing.

Physical Requirements:
  • This role will primarily work in an office setting, sitting for up to 8 hours a day.
  • Driving a company or rental vehicle for up to 8 hours as needed
