POSITION SUMMARY

This position will manage the preparation and review of all federal, state and local income tax workpapers and returns for the Vertiv's domestic companies and coordinate the preparation of U.S. international filings for Vertiv's foreign affiliates.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the preparation of Vertiv's federal, state and local income tax workpapers and returns to ensure timely filing of all returns and adequate documentation is maintained.
  • Manage the preparation of quarterly federal, state and local estimated income tax calculations and payments.
  • Manage the year-end provision computations for federal and state taxable income, current and deferred tax liabilities, and tax reserves
  • Document execution of internal controls for Sarbanes-Oxley purposes
  • Manage the preparation and review of fixed asset depreciation within applicable software programs (Oracle Fixed Assets and Sage) used for tax compliance/tax accounting purposes.
  • Manage the computation of domestic earnings and profits on a regular basis.
  • Oversee all federal, state and local income tax audits
  • Develop and approve responses to inquiries from various tax authorities
  • Manage the preparation of Vertiv Canada's Canadian income tax compliance with support from local finance teams.
  • Manage a corporate team of professionals and outside vendors in all aspects of tax compliance.
  • Review the impact of income tax law changes in the U.S. (federal, state, local) and coordinate with the Tax Accounting group on the potential impact
  • Support tax planning projects as needed.
  • Other special projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

CRITICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SUCCESS:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (Advanced degree would be a plus)
  • Minimum 6-10 years' experience in corporate tax environment or public accounting firm.
  • Supervisory experience over individual contributors
  • CPA License a plus
  • Advanced knowledge of federal, multi-state and local tax return compliance for large domestic consolidated group with international operations.
  • Knowledge of general accounting principles and procedures, company structure and legal organization.
  • Ability to research various tax issues, including federal, state and local taxes.
  • Working knowledge of tax compliance software (OneSource Income Tax), depreciation software (Sage) and tax provision software (OneSource preferred).
  • Experience with HFM financial reporting and ERP General Ledger systems (Oracle preferred).
  • Advanced skills in Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
  • Familiarity with tax research software (BNA).
  • Good written and oral communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
