Manager, Public Relations - Healthcare

The Manager, Public Relations will create and maintain a favorable public image for our business by amplifying marketing messages, highlighting company accomplishments and using thought leadership to expand our share-of-voice.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsibility for all public relations activities that promote a professional, innovative and authoritative image for the Health Care business
  • Develop a marketing communications plan (media, PR, analysts, etc.) including strategy, goals, budget and tactics
  • Work with Marketing team and media agencies to develop and roll out messaging platform to amplify integrated marketing campaign messages for the business.
  • Leverage existing relationships with media, analysts, thought-leaders and/or influencers; continuously cultivate new contacts within business and industry media
  • Create content for press releases, byline articles and keynote presentations, using knowledge of business solutions, industry needs and topical trends
  • Manage editorial calendar and manage the internal SME plan including selection criteria, role expectations and measurement of results
  • Coordinate with industry analysts for briefings and inquiries to support marketing strategy
  • Coordinate pitches for agencies and byline article development, curating content when needed
  • Coordinate executive/spokesperson media training
  • Establish PR programs that address and engage target influencers and audiences that align with marketing strategy
  • Develop crisis management communication plan to implement and execute as needed
  • Manage press release development and distribution, supporting SME interview preparation and scheduling/logistics coordination
  • Oversee the creation and implementation of a standardized PR media tool kit
  • Coordinate agencies to deliver announcements and manage outreach to reporters and analysts
  • Create metrics dashboard to track and report on media placements, tone of coverage, competitive analysis, etc
  • Identify and submit for industry awards (for company, individual, solutions, technology, etc) including, gathering content, materials for competitions, completing submissions, notifying internal stakeholders and determine channels for promotion
  • Manage budgets and outside agencies, freelancers, vendors and other third parties as needed
  • Responsible for relevant content on risk.lexisnexis.com for Health Care including "In The News", "Speakers Bureau", "Press Release" and "Executive Leadership" sections of the site
  • Maintain and adhere to PR best practices
  • Support other company-wide efforts as required
  • Other projects and internal communication initiatives as assigned


Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications or a related field. 7+ yrs related experience.
  • Experience with B2B PR programs/messaging in a healthcare environment (payer, provider, pharmacy or life sciences). Specific experience marketing healthcare IT solutions advantageous
  • Demonstrated success developing and managing programs and relationships with marketing teams, internal and external SMEs, PR agencies, media, industry analyst firms (e.g. Gartner, IDC, etc)
  • Results-focused approach
  • Demonstrated experience and success in B2B external communications working with media, digital (including social media), print, and vendor analyst relations programs
  • Strong relationships with both local and national business and industry media outlets
  • Professionalism to deal with confidential and sensitive business questions and issues
  • Proven experience of working with multiple stakeholders across an organization - particularly senior leadership - to achieve goals
  • Track-record of success in an environment where change is constant; fast paced and often with strict deadlines
  • Expertise crafting and editing messaging content (short form or long form)
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a deadline driven atmosphere
  • Experience supporting integrated marketing programs
  • Exceptional writing, editing and communication skills
  • History of collaborative, collegial working relationships, preferably in a matrix model
