About the Opportunity:

JOB PURPOSE:

Supervises, directs, and coordinates all maintenance activities of the facility and its equipment. Ensures mechanical equipment is installed and fully operational and routinely maintained; and that all safety related equipment is properly functioning. Provide hands-on assistance and training.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Plans, coordinates and communicates work order job assignments with Maintenance technicians, adjusting schedules and priorities based on new requests, changes in priority and any changes in available resources, including external contractors, etc.
  • Establishes and maintains work order job and task assignments, schedules, and work order details within the FIIX CMMS enterprise computerized maintenance management software system.
  • Communicates status of work orders with internal customers and Maintenance technicians to ensure expectations/needs are met and assists where needed.
  • Prepares and distributes various reports from the CMMS program.
  • Specifies and orders parts to complete work orders. Obtains multiple bids when required; and secures proper department and management approvals as required prior to making purchases.
  • Procures and directs Maintenance department spare parts and supplies inventories to hold sufficient stock levels on hand to provide optimal service response levels.
  • Establishes performance objectives for the Maintenance department and the individual Maintenance technicians. Conducts performance evaluations of the Maintenance technicians.
  • Provides ongoing day-to-day collaboration, coaching, support, and guidance to the Maintenance team members to aid in their completion of work assignments; and provides performance feedback on the fulfilment of assigned job responsibilities.
  • Coordinates and provides for ongoing training for all Maintenance team members.
  • Develops and maintains all planned maintenance work within the CMMS program. Ensures that all planned maintenance is aligned with the equipment manufacturer's requirements and best industry practices, written with sufficient detail, including elements, frequency, etc., to be successfully completed.
  • Works directly with plant supervisory staff to create additional PMs that support the ability of the manufacturing operations to conduct defined planned maintenance tasks for their respective areas.
  • Oversees the LOTO program; writing and directing the development of procedures and ensuring all posted procedures are written with sufficient detail conforming to OSHA and all manufacturer safety requirements. Conducts periodic program auditing.
  • Prepares proposals and recommendations for needed tools and equipment to improve capabilities and reliability of servicing the maintenance of the facility operations.
  • Maintain fire protection systems to ensure proper operations.
  • Ensures a 24-hour support team is assigned and in place to respond to all facility related emergency situations.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Ensures that the Maintenance work area is clean and organized; including technical repair reference manuals are maintained for efficient accessibility and retrieval of needed information.
  • Periodically monitors Maintenance department expenditures including contractor work tickets and invoices, ensuring proper billing and accountability for quality work, value add, etc.
  • Prepares and delivers regular updates and reports out Maintenance department performance versus its adopted KPIs at the regular intervals, e.g., 1:1 meetings, and L4 board walks, etc.
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of three years (seven years preferred) manufacturing facility and equipment maintenance experience.
  • Minimum of one year maintenance supervisory and/or leadership experience.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints/layouts, technical schematic drawings, and repair manuals.
  • Computers skills and demonstrated computer competency to accomplish required work.
  • Experience with industrial 480-volt 3 phase electrical systems and troubleshooting preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive the Life Fitness facility pick-up truck
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Lift up to 10 lbs often, 20 lbs often, 35 lbs - 50 lbs rarely and with assistance as needed.
  • Walking, standing, bending, overhead reaching and ladder/stair climbing.
