Basic Job Functions:

The Maintenance Mechanic position responsibilities include but are not limited to: Supporting the coordination and execution of safely troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, and upgrading all plant equipment in the Melt shop or Caster. The teammate in this role will interface with the production and electrical departments. They are responsible for working to continuously improve equipment and systems to maintain reliability. This role will interface with vendors and part suppliers for all mechanical equipment related to the Melt shop or Caster.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

1 year experience working in maintenance with mechanical troubleshooting.

Willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, and holidays.

Preferred Qualifications:

Heavy industrial equipment experience

Industrial hydraulic systems

Air compressor maintenance and operation

Welding/fabrication experience

Understanding of basic electrical theory

Gearbox setup and alignment experience

Academic coursework in engineering, military maintenance training or prior industrial maintenance experience
