As our Maintenance Mechanic at Mauser Packaging Solutions in Mount Vernon, OH, you keep our line equipment running smoothly so we can deliver quality products to our customers on time. During shifts, your main job is to address any issues on the line as they crop up. You must be quick on your feet to get to the line, troubleshoot the issue, and repair it as quickly as possible, ensuring minimal downtime and complete safety at all times. You will also do preventative maintenance, repairs, and updates that cannot be done while the line is running.

To thrive in this role, you must have electrical knowledge and experience, an impeccable safety record, and you must be reliable and show initiative. You show up every day eager to dive in and address issues you see, without being told. You are responsible for keeping the line moving safely and you take a lot of pride in that.

Here's what you can expect on a typical day as a Maintenance Mechanic on our team at Mauser Packaging Solutions:

  • Safety is our number one priority. You'll learn our plant safety guidelines and pass all required safety training including lockout/tagout, housekeeping, and 5S standards.
  • Follow, without exception, all work instructions and safety policies, including use of all PPE and safety equipment
  • Examine machine controls to install plate changeovers and start up machines for production needs when required
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance checks on all production equipment and machinery
  • Repair basic mechanical components and replace parts on machines such as bearings, filters, wiring, valves, gauges and switches
  • Observe and listen to mechanical devices in operation to locate causes of problem
  • Dismantle devices to gain access to and remove defective parts
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments
  • Inspect used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements
  • Lubricate and clean machinery and support equipment to maintain housekeeping and preventive maintenance standards within the plant
  • Document and track changeover times and record
  • Accomplish all work orders to maintain safety; reduce downtime; decrease scrap; improve quality production; and improve plant efficiency
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

  • High-Speed, Loud Environment. Some areas of the plant get very warm in the summer.

Job Requirements

Job Skills & Qualifications Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years of proven work experience in a maintenance within a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to maintain, troubleshoot and repair electrical equipment and mechanical systems involving electrical, plumbing, pneumatic, and hydraulic repair or replacement, including blown fuses and tripped breakers.
  • Knowledge of PLC Logic, and ability to read schematics and blueprints.
  • Understand electrical panel and drive components.
  • Understand gear trains, shafts/journals, pulleys, and bearings.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to draw a 3 phase motor control Circuit
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • PLC experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Must be able to work Nights / Weekends

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to be on feet up to 8-12 hours per shift
  • Use of hands and fingers to perform job function
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, bend and climb/ repetitive tasks throughout the day
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
