The successful candidate will set-up, adjust and proficiently operate the machines required to perform the assigned operations, on a variety of work requiring close tolerances and finish. He or she will perform all operations in accordance with the specified guidelines and instructions, while exercising safety for oneself and others.

Specific responsibilities include:

Provide machining expertise, mechanical diagnostics and perform repairs to process machinery, equipment and components within assigned work area.

Provide all required preventive and predictive maintenance procedures on process machinery and equipment within assigned work area.

Maintain technical competence in advancing technology via frequent training courses, on-the-job training, and vendor schools.

Proficiently utilize a wide variety of metal working tools and instruments including portable grinders, saws, drills and miscellaneous metal cutting equipment.   Required to read complex blueprints, use precision measuring instruments and know fixturing requirements for basic metalworking operations.

Advanced machining skills in operating milling machines, lathes, surface grinders, rotary indexers, sine plates and various chucking/workholding devices.  Must have heat treat experience.

Assist in resolving Maintenance related process problems which may require the proficient operation of that equipment.  Hydraulic, pneumatic, pump, piping, bearing and mechanical drive system knowledge including clutches & brakes is a requirement.

Requirements include fabrication skills using metal sheet stock, tubing, angle iron, I-beams.

Welding experience is required.

Perform all duties as assigned by supervision.

Practice and follow all required safety regulations.

Assure the quality required in each job performed.

Train and mentor mechanic B & C positions in maintenance.

Ability to take limited prints with fabrication knowledge and fabricate equipment components, fixtures and gauging tools for the operation.

Required to work from drawings, sketches, models, specifications and verbal instructions.

Perform required programming and set-up to operate CNC machines.

Be capable of using computerized Maintenance Management software to create work notifications, look up and requisition parts, print work orders and enter time confirmations.

Must have sufficient knowledge of mathematics to make calculations or cutting speeds, feeds, angles, threads, etc.

Ensure applicable product compliance requirements are upheld including but not limited to the Clean Air Act, California Code of Regulation and California Health and Safety Code.
