General Description:

We are looking for a Logistics Planning and Operations Specialist with Under Way Replenishment experience to help design the next generation Surface Logistics Ship!

Design optimal logistic ship cargo preparation and delivery layouts to support underway replenishment at sea. The design will include cargo holds, cargo magazines, pre-staging areas, magazine rated cargo load assembly areas, and cargo routes. Recommend optimal logistics flow routes to include ramps, lifts and material handling equipment. Demonstrate and evaluate the operability and safety of proposed cargo handling solutions, including crewing levels, locations and sustainment.

He/she must be equipped and able to work as part of a highly skilled and multi-functional, multi-disciplined team in order to maintain support and assist in Logistics planning, operations, development, design and integration to support the design and architecture of a new Fleet Logistics Ship.

Qualified Logistics Planning and Operations Consultant applicants will have a strong background in problem-solving and analytical skills, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills. A Logistics Planning and Operations Consultant must also be self-motivated, reliable to deliver on time, quick thinking, be able to work in a fast-paced work environment and be familiar and comfortable with using computer software/programs.

General Duties:

Essential responsibilities and activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform practical engineering assignments as an integral contributor in product sustainment, design, development and test activities.
  • Review Logistics design documentation for completeness and compatibility with prescribed ship builder specification, standards and requirements.
  • Conduct safety assessments of cargo flow.
  • Position could require intermittent travel to shipyards (incl. international), land based test facilities and other locations to meet customer needs and mission requirements .
  • Ability to apply mathematical and engineering principles and methods to electrical system designs.
  • Contributes to the design, development, and testing of ship design, models, and general arrangement.
  • Works directly with more senior engineers to develop new designs and solutions.
  • Provide management and planning services for technical reviews, engineering design recommendations for space changes and shipyard waterfront support.
  • Capture of schematic diagrams and models in our CAD tool suites, participation in peer and formal internal design reviews, providing guidance to designers for drawing development, and generation of all design and test documentation and deliverables.
  • Evaluate and review proposed Logistics and Cargo storage design, drawings, ICPs, ECPs and SHIPALTs to determine the technical and programmatic impact and recommend course s of action s on shipbuilding systems engineering issues.
  • Provide flexible support to customer for the coordination of requirements reviews, technical reviews, and test events of Logistics on all US Navy Surface Ships and the Future Naval Surface Force.
  • Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Participating in in-depth technical reviews and engineering meetings
  • Providing technical feedback and recommendations to clients
  • Participating in engineering and system working groups and independently identifying and resolving system issues to ensure customer needs are met
  • Supporting a culture of collaboration, enthusiasm and a proactive nature within the project
  • Surface Warfare operational analysis and engineering design support, development, and testing
  • Concept of employment, Concept of operation evaluation and development
  • Define or perform review of Interface Requirement Specifications (Weapons specs, Communications specs, Data Links, etc.)
  • Training and training system design and development

Skill Requirements:
  • U.S. Citizenship and Active Secret Security Clearance Are Required.
  • B.S. or Advanced Degree in engineering or related discipline
  • 6-8 (+) Years of Logistics/Cargo Planning and Operations work
  • Intermediate level of knowledge of both military and commercial Logistics planning, Cargo handling, and Underway replenishment protocol.
  • Ability to write clear, concise, and easily readable technical correspondence to document reviews of technical recommendations following technical reviews and collating of comments.
  • Articulate in oral and written presentations; possess high organizational skills and the ability to multi-task to meet deadlines.
  • Experience working dynamic programs with fluctuating scope and integrated coordination of multiple engineering disciplines
  • Desired but not required:
  • Possess an understanding of US Navy system architecture and logistics across logical, functional, hardware, software components
  • Experience interfacing with shipbuilders of Navy vessels
  • Experience designing, developing, integrating, testing, and supporting US Navy and logistics management

Security Requirements:
Applicant will be subject to a security investigation and must meet the eligibility requirements to obtain and maintain a security clearance issued by the US Government. In addition to the security clearance, this position may require an additional background screening for base access.
