JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities of the Local CDL Driver:
- Delivering freight short - medium distances across the country's road networks.
- Planning routes efficiently and delivering freight on time.
- Performing prescribed truck inspections before departure to ensure good running order.
- Ensuring proper placarding & paperwork for Transportation of Dangerous Goods.
- Performing service checks on tire pressure, oil, and fluid levels, as well as minor repairs, when required.
- Logging hours and distances driven, rest stop durations, as well as all fuel, repair, and toll expenses.
- Communicating any delays due to road conditions, accidents, or breakdowns to dispatchers.
- Check containers for damage before delivery and pick-up, report all unsafe items to supervisor immediately.
- Complying with federal and state trucking rules and regulations, including mandatory rest periods and weight restrictions.
- Valid CDL Class A license with 3+ years of driving experience.
- Experience with and adherence to DOT regulations for the transport of Dangerous Goods (HAZMAT preferred, but not required)
- Maintains all required company paperwork.
- Must be able to effectively communicate in English.
- Must be able to lift 55 lbs.
- Capable of working in extreme working conditions (outdoors, weather, terrain)
