The Loan Accountant prides themselves on their ability to use relevant accounting knowledge to reconcile general ledger accounts for a large loan portfolio, timely resolution of customer concerns and exceptional organization as it relates to audit documentation, procedure updates, and other related tasks. The Loan Accountant focuses on producing high quality, detailed work based on established standards, guidelines, and procedures. Consistent, error free work based on defined regulations and standards are key measures of job performance success.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile loan system balances to the corresponding general ledger accounts
  • Utilize various system generated reports, SQL queries, advanced Excel workbooks, Access databases, Hyperion reporting tools and analytical thinking to research and resolve system out of balances
  • Monitor various data exception reports and work with Association staff members to get data exceptions corrected
  • Serve as a liaison for the Association Loan Operations department by providing technical, operational, and accounting expertise to our Association and Bank customers
  • Provide backup support for the administration of the AgFirst loan funds pricing process
  • Provide backup to other daily or monthly Association Loan Operations production responsibilities as needed
Requirements:
  • Education and/or equivalent experience to a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum three years of professional level accounting work experience
  • Understands and adheres to GAAP
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Ability to learn new technology and utilize technology for improved process efficiency and accuracy
Preferred:
  • 1 or more years of loan accounting and/or loan processing experience
  • Experience with Fiserv's DNA software
  • Understanding of banking operations and regulations
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Access/SQL/Oracle databases
