Life Science Research Professional 1🔍School of Medicine, Stanford, California, United States📁Research📅Sep 25, 2023 Post Date📅100786 Requisition #The Mahaney Laboratory in the Department of Neurosurgery at Stanford University School of Medicine studies the intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH)-induced post-hemorrhagic hydrocephalus (PHH) and has demonstrated that elevated levels of hemoglobin and ferritin in the CSF of preterm neonates are associated with development of PHH and severe ventricular enlargement. Our research currently focuses on (1) discovering CSF biomarkers for prediction and early diagnosis of PHH in neonates with IVH and (2) developing novel therapies with our animal hydrocephalus model that is equivalent to the brain maturity of human preterm neonates (i.e., 33 to 36 weeks' gestation in humans). Our goal is to translate the results from our studies to diagnosis and treatment of children with hemorrhage-induced hydrocephalus. Job Description:We are seeking a Life Science Research Professional 1 who has experience in both wet and dry lab research. Successful candidates are expected to perform or assist with stereotactic small animal surgery, medical imaging (e.g., MRI), microscopy (e.g., confocal imaging, SEM of brain tissues), neurobehavioral assays, biochemical experiments, and bioinformatic analysis of transcriptomic and/or proteomic data.
