Eastern Washington University is a regional, comprehensive public university located in Cheney and Spokane, Washington, with programs offered throughout the state and online with an enrollment of over 12,000 students. Job Summary:
The School of Business, in the College of Professional Programs at Eastern Washington University is currently inviting applications to fill one Lecturer, special faculty position to start September 16, 2022, primarily in support of the accelerated MBA online program.

Eastern is a regional, comprehensive institution where excellent teaching must be supplemented with an appropriate research program. The primary teaching area for this position will be finance in the accelerated online MBA program. Successful candidates must meet the requirements for secondary graduate faculty qualification at EWU, with strong preference given to those who meet the qualifications for primary graduate faculty. Additionally, the candidate selected for this position will be expected to teach online academic courses at the graduate level to a diverse college student body; experience with online teaching is required.

About the School of Business
The School of Business is located in the Catalyst Building in the downtown Spokane University District, and maintains an administrative presence in EWU's primary campus in Cheney, Washington. The business program is accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB-International).

Required Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in finance or another business-related field from an accredited university
  • Demonstrated teaching experience in finance
  • Experience teaching courses in an online mode
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal accessibility, of our students, faculty, staff, and the public.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • PhD degree in finance from an accredited university
  • Publications in field of finance (SA designation under AACSB standards)
  • Experience teaching using the Canvas instructional platform

Job Duties:
% of Time: 100
Responsibility / Duty:
  • Teaching: typical workload for this position will include up to 45 credits, subject to department needs and AACSB qualification.  The primary responsibility for this position is teaching in the online MBA program with an additional expectation to teach on occasion in the undergraduate finance program.
  • Teaching includes the following additional responsibilities as defined in the faculty CBA: 
    • Meet all scheduled classes 
      • Plan, organize and inform students of course content, texts, readings, assignments, attendance expectations and methods of evaluation including grading scales 


    • Schedule and attend office hours 
      • Turn in grades according to established deadlines 
  • Additionally, all faculty are expected to engage in effective teaching and assessment of student learning.

Conditions of Employment:
Multiple work locations (main office located in the Catalyst Building in Spokane’s downtown University District, shared office at the EWU Cheney Campus, or from an approved remote location, with the ability to participate in college and university meetings as required via videoconference).

The required start date for this position is 09/16/2022. To be considered eligible for appointment into the position, applicants must be available and able to start in the position no later than 09/16/2022.

This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment. All new employees must comply with EWU immunization Policy 602-02 and provide proof of immunity or vaccination to MMR and proof they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before beginning work at EWU. Waivers for the immunization requirements are available for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs.
Note: Interviews might be conducted via Zoom (camera must be enabled). While we anticipate being open for in-person instruction for academic year 2022-23, should Washington State or university pandemic restrictions disallow for in-person instruction, then courses will be taught via online platforms, including Zoom and other technologies. Candidates must be able to demonstrate competence using these technologies.
Salary Information: The expected salary upon hire is $81,872.
