Lean Six Sigma Program Manager Job Summary:

The Lean Six Sigma Black Belt is responsible for driving sustainable change at all organizational levels by implementing Lean/Six Sigma tools and techniques to all HAECO Airframe business units and functional processes and procedures, leading to a more streamlined and reliable execution process within 14CFR Part 145, 121, OSHA and EPA regulatory guidelines. The position will be focused on driving change through coaching, encouraging, and supporting employees at all organizational levels. The position is responsible for fostering a sustainable continuous improvement culture that drives key performance metrics to satisfy customer demand as well as key business goals. Specific focus on knowledge transfer, training, and guidance in fact-based problem solving, CI tools and techniques.

Lean Six Sigma Program Manager Essential Job Duties:

1. Presents, facilitates, and leads process improvement events using methods of culture-appropriate team building, team energizing, data gathering and analysis, problem solving, project management and presentation skills

2. Seeks and evaluates process improvement information, materials, and methods to match specific organizational needs as outlined by management and adapts teams to use in the execution process improvement events while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

3. Participates in and coordinates the development of event charters and scheduling events - works with department management to assure appropriate participation and support

4. Provides event follow-up to monitor the progress of planned improvement implementation to assure timely action, appropriate management support, and achievement of expected benefits

5. Uses appropriate measurement, analysis, and evaluation methods to accurately identify and document process improvements

6. Develops reports of overall Continuous Improvement activities including accomplishments, participation, projected activities, and anticipated needs

7. Collaborates with hanger operations teams to prioritize, select and resource projects critical to achieving business goals for customer satisfaction, operating KPI targets and year-over-year, bottom-line benefits; leads, manages and coaches business-wide improvement projects and initiatives

8. Guides project leaders and teams through application of lean six sigma tools and techniques (DMAIC, PDCA, root cause analysis, risk assessment/FMEA, kaizen, design for six sigma, mistake proofing); coach and mentor green belt and yellow belt candidates and participates in daily problem-solving activities with focus on knowledge transfer

9. Teaches, facilitates, coaches, and ensures adherence to established standards for value stream mapping/analysis, kaizen improvement (workshops and daily kaizen) and 5S (workshops, daily improvement, and sustainment); makes decisions about the design of value stream analyses and kaizen workshops

10. Promote, enforce, and comply with all company policies, FAA, EPA and OSHA regulatory guidelines as applicable.

Lean Six Sigma Program Manager Job Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • BS degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business, Finance, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Operational Excellence, Project Management, Lean or similar OpEx Role
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification through a recognized and accredited national organization
  • Demonstrated success in assisting in complex problem-solving projects and initiatives, ability to manage multiple priorities, a bias for action
  • Demonstrated experience and success in application of CI philosophies, tools, and techniques
  • Proactive coaching and change management skills with a strong drive to improve
  • Advanced level computer skills & be knowledgeable in typical business software including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other specialized Project Planning and MRP/ERP type software packages
  • Occasional outside local and out of town travel is required, involving driving and/or flying (10%).


  • Preferred:
  • 3 years of experience in Aviation / Airframe Services / MRO Industry
  • MBA


  • Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to lift 25 pounds, climb stairs, bend, and stoop as necessary
  • Normal or corrected hearing and vision are required
  • Normal office environment where approximately 70% of work is performed in a sitting position
  • Frequent exposure to the outside hangar areas for meetings and work duties for varying lengths of time
