You are applying for a position within Paypal Site Reliability & Cloud Engineering (SRCE). PayPal SRCE is a continuous engineering discipline that effectively combines software development and systems engineering to build and run scalable, distributed, fault-tolerant systems. Unlike SRE teams at other companies, here you will be working as a direct solutions provider to our Merchants. Your work will have direct impact on how our Merchants perceive their partnership with us.

As a Software Engineer in SRCE, you'll be working in the the Process Reliability and Analytics organization, where you'll have the opportunity to work directly to develop and improve internal software products that support:

• Internal and External Incident Notification
• Site Reliability and Health
• Incident Management
• Process Compliance and Postmortem documentation.

These systems ensure that Paypal Incidents are run with world class consistency and speed, while supporting our ongoing mission to learn from everything we do and never repeat a mistake.

Job Description:

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's and /or Master's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • 6+ years' experience collaborating with business users to define the key business requirements and translate them into process/technical solutions
  • Expert hands on development experience using JAVA and Spring.
  • Proficient in web front-end technologies (HTML5/CSS/JavaScript/NodeJS/React)
  • Competent in designing and building web applications and/or web services in a commercial setting.
  • Competent in design/implementation for reliability, availability, scalability and performance.
  • Experience applying software design patterns, data structures, algorithms. Good understanding of and experience applying object-oriented design and development principles.
Good To Have:
  • Understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as k-NN, Naive Bayes, SVM, Decision Forests, Regression etc.
  • Working experience of BERT/Transformers, Text summarization and Attention models,.
  • Experience with at least one of the deep learning libraries such as Tensorflow, Keras or PyTorch.
  • Experience developing data-driven applications using an industry standard RDBMS (Oracle, DB2, etc.), including strong data architecture and SQL development skills and Non-Relational Databases (such as Mongo, Cassandra, and/or Riak).
  • Experience using industry standard software development tools (IDE / Git / Continuous Integration)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.

Colorado Only: The pay range for this position in Colorado starts as mentioned below per year, plus annual bonus or commission if a Sales role. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining final salary.
