Summary
• Responsible for providing engineering expertise to Region, Service Centers, and other company personnel for the planning, design, operation, and maintenance of the Distribution System.
• Leads the engineering analysis of the electrical distribution system to properly serve new customer loads.
• Ensures safe and efficient operation of the distribution system, and resolves technical issues affecting the distribution system. Plans, controls, and measures all activities of technical staff to effectively complete engineering design for construction projects to extend service to new customers and to delivery system improvements.
• Evaluates delivery system performance.
• Applies and interprets company, industry, local, state, national codes, tariffs, and standards and ensures compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Develops new construction standards and material specifications.
• Recommends new products and materials for approval. Interprets and administers company policies and procedures relating to personnel, industrial relations, service extensions, safety, accounting, and purchasing.
• Investigates and resolves customer inquiries.
Responsibilities
1. Performs engineering analysis of the electric distribution system to serve new customer loads. Completes distribution system reliability studies, contingency plans, reviews capital budget project proposals, prepares NPVs, determines correction of circuit electrical operating deficiencies, etc. Conducts capacity analyses of key substation equipment. (40%, P)
2. Conducts in depth engineering evaluations of distribution materials, selects proper materials, applications, equipment for approval, and conducts material failure analyses. May provide assistance to customer service groups on power quality uses including investigation, analysis and mitigation. (15%, P)
3. Performs flicker analysis for large customer motors. Analyzes the impact of customer-interconnected distributed generation. May provide fuse-recloser coordination service including the review and updating of coordination schemes. (5%, S)
4. Recommends necessary system improvement and/or construction projects, and provides all necessary documents for those projects, including contracts. (10%, S)
5. Develops and implements electric reliability plans, capital forecasts and department budgets. Prepares reports and feasibility studies for submission to management. (10%, S)
6. Plans, designs, organizes, coordinates, and controls projects by providing liaison with other sections, departments, divisions, vendors or consultants, and coordinates with government agencies, customers, or other utilities regarding circuit design and maintenance. (15%, P)
7. Interprets and administers company policies and procedures relating to personnel, industrial relations, service extensions, safety, accounting, and purchasing. (5%, S)

Skills and Requirements
Education & Experience Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Civil/Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of 8-10 years (minimum) of relevant experience required.
• Project management and supervisory experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of distribution design systems required.
• Completion of Engineer-in-Training (EIT) is preferred (where applicable).
• Professional Engineer license is required (where applicable).
