Reports to the Manager of Fire Protection with responsibilities to include: Maintains a compliant and sustainable corporate fire protection/life safety environment. Ensures that fire protection practices protect employees, the public, contractors, company infrastructure, and the environment. Manages fire protection systems inspection, testing, maintenance (ITM) program as well as the design and installation of new/upgrade fire protection systems across assigned AVANGRID territory. Develops and maintains fire prevention and life safety policies and procedures. Perform oversight on facility emergency pre-planning and evacuation training. Champions best practices in planning, implementation and integration of fire protection systems and life safety administrative controls across the AVANGRID enterprise. Interprets and addresses compliance concerns using applicable codes and standards including but not limited to National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), International Code Council (ICC) as well as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Regulations. This position is a senior-level analyst position responsible for supporting diverse occupancies over a large geographic territory. The candidate must have well developed analytic and interpersonal skills capable of working with a high degree of independence yet seeking guidance and direction when appropriate; they must have excellent presentation and communication skills.
Responsibilities
MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Scope of work - range of responsibilities): Ensures all AVANGRID RENEWABLES and Company Affiliates comply with applicable fire protection and life safety Policies/Procedures as well as regulatory requirements. Functions as a Company subject matter expert (SME) interpreting applicable fire protection, life safety, and facility emergency management standards and regulations. This position is responsible for expansive territories that will include major portions of the United States. The selected candidate will be required to periodically travel to Company locations, attend work related meetings and manage projects throughout AVANGRID's operation area that may be in the vicinity of 15% of the time. Works with AVANGRID RENEWABLES Operations, Project Engineering and Building Asset Management (BAM) to develop, maintain and incorporate needed passive fire protection features for the conservation of life and property in existing, remodeled or new facilities. Develop and maintain with stakeholders' emergency action and fire prevention plans. Establish, manage and administer OpEx/CapEx budgets.
Skills and Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Science, Technology, or related Safety or Emergency Management discipline with applicable emphasis in fire and life safety; Minimum 5 years of broad-based experience in fire protection and facility emergency management program administration. Minimum of 5 years project/program experience in fire protection system installation and retrofit; this shall include experience with building structures and systems that must be interfaced with during applicable construction activities. Associates degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Science, Technology, or related Safety or Emergency Management discipline with applicable emphasis in fire and life safety; Minimum 15 years of broad-based experience in fire protection and facility emergency management program administration. Minimum of 15 years project/program experience in fire protection system installation and retrofit; this shall include experience with building structures and systems that must be interfaced with during applicable construction activities. Experience/Training: Experience in electric, wind and solar plants operations are a plus. This includes operating systems, infrastructure and field operations. Experience in maritime, offshore wind or maritime oil drilling fire protection operations a plus. Familiarity and use of BOEM Regulations contained in Title 30, Chapter V highly desirable. Demonstrated experience with interpretation and application of established fire and life safety codes (NFPA Standards, ICC Fire and Building Codes, OSHA 29 CFR 1910 General Industry Subpart E and L Fire Protection, OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Subparts C & F, etc.). Demonstrated experience using principles/practices of emergency management - FEMA ICS. Experience creating and delivering training presentations (Power Points, TEAMS, Multimedia) for audiences up and down the organization structure of the Company. Skills/Abilities: Experience preparing clear and concise written materials - reports, policies, procedures, etc. Detailed individual skilled in maintaining accurate records/files, entering/retrieving info via computer-based systems with a focus on accuracy. Experience setting priorities, coordinating multiple projects, and meeting critical deadlines. Competency using MS Office Suite, MS Project (working knowledge of CAD a plus). Licenses and Certificates: NFPA Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS) or the ability to achieve within 12months. Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) is not required but highly desirable. NFPA Fire Investigator I or II Certification. Related certifications in fire safety and life safety, emergency planning is a plus.
