Job Description

Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. is seeking a Survey Project Manager for our Surveying Department, based in GPI's Morris Plains Office. The ideal candidate is preferred to be a licensed land surveyor (PLS) or a land surveyor in training (LSIT) with a minimum of ten (10) years' experience in land surveying, five (5) years in directing field and office staff, and who is comfortable with client contact, being able to both discern and advise on client needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate projects with multiple team members including other business units (company branches)
  • Preparing proposals and contracts
  • Providing guidance and direction to field crew(s) and surveying technicians
  • Conducting deed and plan research and review
  • Preparing ROW plans and agreements
  • Overseeing field work associated with land surveying, engineering, and construction projects
  • Performing survey computations and boundary resolution for Boundary and ALTA Surveys, Aerial and Topographic Surveys with utility locations including pipe inverts and sizes, Construction Layout and As-Built Surveys, Right-of-Way Surveys, and various other project types
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in all aspects of land surveying, project management is required
  • AAS or BS Degree in Surveying is preferred
  • Licensed Professional Land Surveyor in NJ is preferred
  • Experienced in all aspects of Land Surveying (Site Civil, Utilities, Energy & Public Transportation Agencies a plus)
  • Experience with robotic total stations, GPS, leveling, field procedures, boundary analysis and resolution
  • Must be able to pass Federal and State Security screening, and able to pass drug/alcohol screening
  • Expertise in Civil3D is required. Knowledge of MicroStation is a plus
  • Ability to obtain OSHA 10 safety training, as well as SWAC and TWIC certification

Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Possess a personal vehicle for use on or around a job site
  • Read, write, and understand plans and direction given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to stand for approximately 3 hours minimum a day up to 8 hours
  • Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19\" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, safety glasses/goggles, and/or masks while working
