Description - This position reports to the Mgr I, Quality for Arizona market area. Manages staff and activities related to hot mix asphalt testing and mix designs, ready mix concrete testing and mix designs, and aggregate/base testing in the Arizona main laboratory. Responsibilities include direct supervision of technicians working in the lab, formulation of hot mix asphalt and ready-mix concrete trial batches, lead any R&D work, oversight of AMRL/CCRL related tasks including PSP, technician training and evaluation, equipment maintenance and calibration, and any other documentation related to the accreditation. Manages schedule of all work performed and prepares reports for manager/engineer review. Also provides technical support to field QC/operations/sales staff and customers to resolve material, testing or plant issues as needed.

Required Skills - Strength skills: moderate level math and science (minimum Algebra and Basic Physics & Chemistry/Geology), computer (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, SharePoint, database applications), organizational skills, management skills (work with and develop people, provide direction for overall group objectives, diversity with situations and people such as internal management, customers, owners). Required Education - Minimum two-year degree in engineering or technical field, preferably related to construction materials preferred. Other degrees considered based on experience.

Required Experience - Minimum 5 years of construction materials or related experience including a minimum of 2 years lab management experience.

Required Certifications - Asphalt Institute or NCAT Hot Mix Asphalt Design Course, ACI Field I, ACI Agg 1 & 2, ACI Strength 1 & 2, NRMCA Level 2 or equivalents (ATTI Field, Asphalt & Soils/Aggregate Technician Certifications)
